To think I should have heard from the school by now?

East mids lots of other locals schools announced closures or postponing returning to school yesterday.
Today most schools round here have inset day but still no word from school not even a holding message to say we’ll announce soon.
I’m stuck as employer asking questions I’m supposed to be back in work Tomo both myself and husband key workers but last time school weren’t up and running straight away with key worker set up.
This is not a teacher bashing thread I feel the schools have been hung out by the government but would like some indication from the schools what is happening?
Has everyone else had confirmation from their tier 4 schools?

The truth is no one knows, the heads don’t know. My head was last night speaking with the governors and going to inform parents today, at some point. Things are changing daily. I’m not sure if I’m going into work tomorrow or if my child will be at school..

Assume you're back in unless you hear otherwise

Unicornsdosparkle · 04/01/2021 12:13

West Mids here and we have a planned teacher training day today and have been informed this morning that tomorrow is now also a teacher training day but school will be reopen on Wednesday. But I guess this could all change at a moments notice.

I'm in Berkshire and still waiting to find out. Planned inset day today and received a holding email from the school yesterday, headteacher was waiting for replies from staff, but quietly wondering at what point today I'm going to find out.

We've heard nothing other than email straight after Williamson's last Commons statement saying "see you on Tuesday". I know they were doing staff meetings today to review Covid procedures anyway - so I assume they're still going on and we'll probably get something later on today.

Since our linked infant school still has a pointed "we reopen tomorrow" banner across their website - I'm hoping it's positive.

Our school was due back today and let parents know last night at 8pm. Not gone back. Some pleased parents, some furious.

I'm in the same boat - not sure if the kids will be in school tomorrow, both parents due to be working. Not the school's fault but very stressful for parents.

Tier 4 academy we had an email the day they broke up for xmas holiday to say they are not back until next week at the earliest. Had another email yday to say they will contact us today with another update. I assume they will say off for another 2 weeks now.

My understanding is that if you haven't heard otherwise, the school is open.

T4 and closed all week. I don't know about every school and nursery in the area, but most seem to be taking the same line. Infection rates are especially bad in our local area though (not London). I strongly suspect the schools will choose to not open here until either infection rates show steady decline, or we go into another official lockdown. I suspect the latter will occur first.

AaahWoof · 04/01/2021 14:04

Still no news here - either it's going down to the wire or they're assuming the email they sent out earlier in the week covers it. I'm not jinxing it getting clothes out and ready yet anyway.
