I just about managed the home schooling during the first lockdown whilst keeping my business afloat - albeit with turnover reducing down to a fraction of what it was.
This time round if primary schools are to shut I fear my business will have to close. I am a parent of two primary kids and I employ 3 other women who all have primary school age children. The job we do involves a lot of talking in the phone so is very difficult to do with kids in the background.
Last time round the home-schooling element seemed almost optional but it sounds like kids will be expected to log on and take part in lessons for large chunks of the day and our kids are all at an age where they will need supervision to do this.
My business almost collapsed during the first lockdown but we have built it back up and have work in at the moment that needs us on the phones. I have no idea how we will manage if all the kids have to be home-schooled.
Yes I can furlough the team (as I did last time) but then there is no-one left to do the work. Feel constantly anxious waiting for the next government announcement
