Washing floors before hoovering?

StormsDontLastForever · 03/01/2021 23:15

It's 11:15 at night, I've just hoovered and mopped my kitchen and hall floor. Feel I now need to mop and hoover my livingroom, but don't think the neighbours will be happy, aibu to mop them tonight then hoover it tomorrow morning? I hoover everyday so floors aren't too bad in terms of needing hoovered. I would never usually do this but feel I can't leave the livingroom out 🤣 wish I had a sweeping brush now lol!

vodkaredbullgirl · 03/01/2021 23:18

sit down and have a Wine till the urge passes

Clymene · 03/01/2021 23:19

Why?

FancySomeChips · 03/01/2021 23:19

You do not need to wash the floors tonight.

alibongo5 · 03/01/2021 23:19

Mopping and hoovering every day? Each to their own I suppose but yeah I don't think you should worry if you don't do it today (and your neighbour will thank you).

Cherrysoup · 03/01/2021 23:20

Tomorrow, sweetie. Hoovering is not good for neighbourly relations at this time of night. Sweep and mop if you really must.

titchy · 03/01/2021 23:21

If you've mopped, wtf are you hoping to Hoover up?

Clymene · 03/01/2021 23:22

Don't you hoover first then mop anyway? What's the point in hoovering a floor that's been washed? Surely there's nothing on it that needs hoovering Confused

MrsMoastyToasty · 03/01/2021 23:24

Have you got a broom? Or a dust pan and brush?

MrsPernicious · 03/01/2021 23:25

Teach your family to wipe their feet when they come back from the farm yard.
Nobody's floors should need mopping and hoovering daily.

Woodlandbelle · 03/01/2021 23:25

I would mop but with a sweeping action 😂
I do this sometimes

But I love my long handled dustpan and brush. Have two. One just for Lego and another for general use

Diverseduvet · 03/01/2021 23:25

Sweep and mop if you must. Hoover tomorrow.

StormsDontLastForever · 03/01/2021 23:25

I have anxiety and believe it or not but cleaning helps me when I'm feeling anxious and down. Have hoovered and mopped the hall and kitchen, haven't hoovered the livingroom yet and I am debating mopping it or not. I really can't settle tonight to watch tv or anything s

Poor neighbours

StormsDontLastForever · 03/01/2021 23:26

Wasn't finished posting sorry!

So thought if I clean my downstairs I might be able to sleep better tonight. I know it sounds crazy! 🤣

StormsDontLastForever · 03/01/2021 23:27

Also I don't mop everyday, only hoover as I have a child and a large dog so it needs hoovering daily

vodkaredbullgirl · 03/01/2021 23:27

Just mop the floor.

honeylulu · 03/01/2021 23:30

I have seen this on a thread before - mopping before hoovering. Why that order? Makes no sense! The hoovering or sweeping removes the loose dirt, dust, hairs, crumbs ect. The mopping is to remove marks and stickiness the brush doesn't pick up. If you mop a dusty, crumby floor then surely it just drags and smears wet dust and crumbs around. Yeuch!

MrsPernicious · 03/01/2021 23:33

Not my idea of anxiety relief, but if it works for you... Try a damp micro-fibre mop.

Have you thought of taking up knitting or crochet? Much quieter than hoovering, so more neighbour friendly

jamesfailedmarshmallows · 03/01/2021 23:33

The order is definitely hoovering then mopping. It can always wait until tomorrow or in my house next week though ☺️

stackemhigh · 03/01/2021 23:33

I could never mop first, DH hoovers and then I mop, otherwise you’re just swirling debris around!

However, we only do it once a month Blush

FuckOffBorisYouTwat · 03/01/2021 23:35

Life is short find more exciting ways to reduce your anxiety.

katy1213 · 03/01/2021 23:35

Come round and do mine!

TopBants · 03/01/2021 23:36

Not crazy at all. You don't want to go to sleep with a dirty downstairs. It might itch, for one thing.

Ho ho ho.....Grin!

OP - listen to the feedback. a) nobody mops before hoovering, it has to be the other way round and b) you cannot hoover at this time of night.

Maybe your kitchen cupboards could do with a sort out...? (I know mine could [blush}.
