Just that really it all seems to be very unclear but roughly what percentage of primary teachers have invoked section 44? Furthermore yabu- they should, yanbu- they shouldn’t

Could you not have joined in on one of the many, many other threads on this topic rather than start another one in the wrong section?

How the hell would anyone know that? It's not a public post, it's a letter from members of staff to their HT. Hmm

rabbitheadlights · 03/01/2021 23:19

I'll bite, what's section 44?

petrolsoakedpaperandfireworks · 03/01/2021 23:34

What is section 44???

rabbitheadlights · 03/01/2021 23:42

Google says it's a health and safety clause in the employment rights act

A "considerable number of staff" at DD's primary school according to the email sent out today. Head is going to decide on possible closure tomorrow (INSET day). She clearly doesn't support it though given the tone of the email. We're Tier 3 with more cases than some Tier 4 areas. Luckily our local council has issued a statement saying that they will not fine parents who choose not to send kids in.

ChorleyFMcominginyourears · 04/01/2021 00:01

The headmaster from my youngests school sent out an email today to say a number of staff won't be in tomorrow because of it but that our children may have different teachers etc etc but their education won't be affected so I would say quite a lot throughout the country tbh

Nobody knows.

YABU.

What is section 44???

It's what allows teachers to be off of work, their working conditions are considered unsafe. There have been approx 5495357 threads on schools today.
