Apparently Hermes tried to deliver my parcel today but no one was in and there was no safe place to leave it , I’ve been in ALL day! Anyone else had them claim to attempt to deliver a parcel when they didn’t?!

Yep - complain ASAP

Royalbloo · 03/01/2021 21:01

Raise with the seller too - they have chosen to use them and are liable

AliceMcK · 03/01/2021 21:06

As above.

I was once sat in my lounge right next to the door when they claimed to have attempted delivery and left it in a “safe place” not sure where that place was at it looked nothing like my house. I spent over an hour with the seller and they refunded straight away.

Completely baffles me why people use them with their reputation. I’m due a package tomorrow through them, I’m not holding out great hopes.

Givemeabreak88 · 03/01/2021 21:08

It’s very annoying when you pay for next day delivery! Order was due 5-7 then went 7-9 now they tried to deliver it and I wasn’t in, it’s obvious they just didn’t get round to it no need to lie

They took a photo of the middle of my road when they claimed to have attempted delivery. I recognised some of the cars and the photo was taken a good 30 metres away from my house.

Another time I was outside when the Hermes driver was roaming around with a couple of parcels. She went to get back in her car, I asked her "what number are those parcels for", she replied "24", I said "I live at 24, are they for me?", which they were. She then got really stroppy because it says 24 and 26 on our gatepost (as it's an old house split into 2) and said that we should label our house more clearly. Not sure how much clearer than a big 24 on top of a big 26 can be.

My mum had a delivery notification for a parcel that hadn't arrived along with a picture of a shed and a note saying it had been left in the shed. Only problem is, she doesn't have a shed. Lots of arguments with Mango (and threats to take it up with them on social media) and eventually Mango re send the goods. 2 months later a man drops off the original parcel that he had found in his shed - the house where the parcel had been left in the shed was undergoing a complete refurbishment, so no one had been living there and using the shed.

YorkshireGirl35 · 03/01/2021 21:24

Worst courier out there!

FlyPiggy · 03/01/2021 21:34

I don't know how they're still in business! I avoid ordering from places that I know use Hermes (George @ Asda, Sports Direct, etc.).

Thimbleberries · 03/01/2021 21:37

Yes, terrible. I am waiting for one tonight, was supposed to be between 6 and 8pm. Not sure whether to give up and get into pyjamas or not!

It's a redelivery from one the other day, when the tried to deliver an hour before they had said they would, so I wasn't home - the text changing the delivery time came at the same time as the parcel delivery, so I didn't even have a chance to get back.

Then it should have been delivered the next working day - yesterday - but although I got a different parcel from them, I didn't get that one. And then I did get told it would be today, but it hasn't come.

I hate them. They were useless during the lockdown, too, and I had to fight with sellers to get them to believe that something hadn't been delivered when hermes said it had. They weren't taking photos or signatures at the time, and just claimed delivery.

totally useless. But I never know if it's them when I order something - if I did, I'd order from somewhere else.

WhatTiggersDoBest · 03/01/2021 21:39

One time they had an order from somewhere that had separated my three items into three separate parcels. They handed two to me, then they must have found the last one in the bottom of the van or something. About half five, I got an email and text saying I wasn't in (I'd been in all day) and that I had to drive to a specific petrol station to get it.
The next day, drove to said petrol station (miles away) and they didn't have it. It was at the one five miles further from my house.
I was not impressed.

Rina66 · 03/01/2021 21:39

I got sent this today, it tickled me!

Hermes
userlotsanumbers · 03/01/2021 21:43

They're awful and yes they absolutely have claimed to deliver when they haven't. I too avoid ordering from any retailer that uses them. Utter crap.

Laiste · 03/01/2021 21:47

Yeah. I bought from Pet Planet recently to save a couple of quid (usually buy from zooplus/amazon.

The order confirmation email stated a next day hermes delivery and my heart sank. Sure enough they didn't even attempt a delivery for 4 days and then when i tracked the parcel it said they couldn't find the address and were waiting for 'action by the buyer'.

Hmm

The 'action' was me telling them no one else ever had had a problem finding the house, and it arrived 48 hours later.

Back to zooplus next time. I'd rather pay a bit extra and know i'm actually going to get my order.

WhatTiggersDoBest · 03/01/2021 21:52

@Rina66 that's hilarious! Grin

Givemeabreak88 · 03/01/2021 22:02

It’s pretty hard to avoid them as so many places uses them and with everything but essential shut where I am having no choice but to order online. Annoying as I will probably be out tomorrow so they will say there was no safe place to leave it 🙄

Google Resolver and get in touch with them. I dont know how, but they are resolving cases like yours and fast! I recently had confirmation a double bed had been delivered.......it certainly hadn't........no photo evidence of the delivery taken, due to Covid! The seller wouldn't engage with me as Hermes had 'confirmed ' the phantom delivery! After 6 brief emails between me and Resolver, the money I'd paid was back in my bank account!

ChelseaCat · 03/01/2021 22:19

Going against the grain - I’ve had a few really good experiences posting things with Hermes recently. Cheaper and faster than Royal Mail. I’ve had my share of shit from them in the past but I’m feeling a bit more confident at the moment (sure I’ll be back to retract this soon!!!)

Thimbleberries · 04/01/2021 07:14

I tried resolver last time, but didn't get anywhere with it. They just kept saying in the end that I had to contact the sellers. Eventually (6-8 weeks later) I got things re-sent from the sellers (one a big shop, another ebay) but it was a lot of hassle. Hermes website is awful because you can't contact them other than via ticking boxes and entering numbers, and then they tell you your parcel has been delivered, when it hasn't. Resolver did send emails on my behalf to Hermes and possibly the companies, but they didn't manage to help resolve it (that was back in about April/May, though - maybe they're more helpful now!)

I still haven't received my parcel from yesterday, nor any word of communication that it has been delayed

kizkiz · 04/01/2021 07:31

This is the current status for a parcel I ordered

10:01 - Fri 04 Dec
We're sorry your parcel has been delayed, we'll have it on the move in the next 24 hours

Luckily it was a good seller who posted a replacement via a far better courier that arrived 24 hours later.
They've clearly lost the parcel but won't admit it

ilikexmas · 04/01/2021 07:49

Recently Hermès have been bad for me. Apparently my parcel was handed to resident. It was 2 stops away so I stood by my window. I watched as the driver handed MY parcel to a house who's number was nothing like mine . 10 minutes later that neighbor delivered me the parcel.

So odd!

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 04/01/2021 07:59

We’ve stood outside our house, at her usual delivery time, to see the ‘Failed delivery’ message come up on the app & she hasn’t even attempted delivery.

Terrible company, terrible local driver here, since complaining about her lying she now throws & goes. I’m on a minimum wage contract (self employed) so have sympathy with her, but I don’t care if you’re paid as a Prince or a pauper, you chose the job so do it to the best of your ability or move over for someone who will.

countrygirl99 · 04/01/2021 08:14

I've got an even better one. I sent my son in Finland a Christmas gift via Parcelforce. First it just didn't appear on tracking until I chased it and they found it. Since then they have been trying to deliver in Milton Keynes. Unsurprisingly they are telling me that they can't find the address. I've been telling them why since Christmas Eve.

nosswith · 04/01/2021 08:24

Perhaps MN or even the Paper that Supported the Blackshirts should start a campaign that you must be told the parcel carrier before you order. The fake delivery note scam before Christmas seems enough reason, but it would force bad carriers to up their game.

AliMonkey · 04/01/2021 08:32

We’re obviously lucky as ours always delivers when stated. And he even smiles and chats, unlike grumpy Royal Mail man.

SaltedCaramelIcedLatte · 04/01/2021 08:34

Awful company, good luck getting anywhere with them

MaggieFS · 04/01/2021 08:42

I'm very aware of their reputation and have a friend who lives in a very rural property down a long drive (six houses down the drive) and Hermes claim they can't even find the drive - very single time. It's ridiculous. But personally, we seem to have a decent driver and don't have any issues.

I agree with pp, knowing which delivery company a website uses prior to placing the order would probably soon sort things out, if customers actively chose not to use certain websites. An idea for a thread anyone?
