Argh!! Socks!

Hi all, long time reader but rarely post!
I'm sorry, but I'm posting here for traffic, as I know Mumsnet will have the answer!!
I've just worn my lovely new Christmas pressie Carvela Chelsea boots....
I wore them with slightly thicker socks at first, but had to quickly change them as they made them tight and really pinch my toes. (They were not overly thick, FWIW, I think I've just got dodgy feet!)
So then I changed to a thinner pair, and all was well, or so I thought!

As I'm walking around, outside, my socks start slipping down into the boot so that the leather top of the boot is then rubbing like crazy on my leg! Sad

So, is it my feet, is it the boots, or is it I need a special type of socks?!
I can't return them now I've worn them outside, and wouldn't want to look ungrateful to the friend who bought them for me! I want to wear them, they're lovely!

Please help! I promise I'm not normally such a rubbish adult! Hmm

Get longer socks and put them over your tights/leggings/jeans? Smile

Stars2theside · 03/01/2021 13:12

They were longer, but the boots didn't look right being over my jeans! Sorry, I should have been clearer.
I think I'm thinking there are some magical non slip socks out there Smile

Knee socks?

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 03/01/2021 14:00

The only socks I've found that don't slip into boots or wellies are proper long knee high socks, the longer the better, folded over on the top. Like Ski socks or thinner ones from M&S.
I lost my lovley Nordic wool socks down my wellies today, annoying, I was balanced on a hill in the mud trying to get the sock and welly back on. It must have looked hilarious.

If it's really cold, tights under jeans solves all your problems!

LeSangeEstDansLarbre · 03/01/2021 14:06

I have a few pairs of knee-high socks to wear with a pair of boots which do the same thing to me. It’s the only solution I’ve found!

Wingedharpy · 03/01/2021 14:11

Deffo knee high socks.

Stars2theside · 03/01/2021 16:35

I can't believe I've never thought of knee high socks for an adult! I will be going in search of some now!

@FedUpAtHomeTroels that sounds hilarious Grin

Thanks all!!

I fold my socks over the top of my boots.

ToniTheDonkey · 03/01/2021 16:50

I have similar issues and find myself taking my boots off several times a day in order to pull my socks up. The knee high sock idea is genius. Unfortunately I have massive calves so I doubt I will be able to find any knee high socks to fit me.

Snackz · 03/01/2021 17:13

@Stars2theside I'm not sure what your budget is but Dr Martens socks always stay up too Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 03/01/2021 17:21

Would thinner socks which are designed for walking help? - I use liners with walking socks and boots but alone with shoes and never have any slippage.

Mostly this sort
