I am well and truly out of ideas at this point. Young children at home who are glued to devices. Have been to all parks about a million times and wholesome family walks usually end up with me having to carry the youngest full tantrum because she's freezing.

Nothing much. 3 kids in bed. I ket them be. Back to school/college/uni tomorrow,

Been for a run, shower, gonna make lunch and the beef is in the slow cooker. Ill meet a friend later for a walk.

shouldistop · 03/01/2021 11:43

I'm at home with our newborn and dh, 4yo ds and ddog went for a hill walk.
This afternoon we're going to roast marshmallows on the fire pit outside.
Not looking forward to dh starting back at work on Tuesday, it's been so nice having him off for Christmas and new year.

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 03/01/2021 11:43

Feck all, for similar reasons to you. I had tickets for an NT place but the kids didn't want to leave the house and DH decided (today, having known about this for a week) that its too much travelling. Children currently playing some complicated game involving wrecking the house Hmm

XXBeckiXX · 03/01/2021 11:44

I'm the same... have a 9 year old and 12 year old who will happily spend their days on playstation, phone, laptop etc... and all my attempts at getting them out for 'fresh air' are met with moaning, complaining and miserable faces so I dont even feel like bothering anymore. Yesterday's game of monopoly ended up in tears so may try some different bored games this afternoon (or I may just start on the wine early) Wine

shouldistop · 03/01/2021 11:44

We invested in some proper winter gear for us all as we knew we'd be spending a lot of time outdoors. It was worth it x

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 03/01/2021 11:46

We have proper winter gear but we also have a contrary 3 year old who hates putting it on Grin

TwoStepsAhead34 · 03/01/2021 11:46

Taking decorations down and get house sorted.

ThatDamnKrampus · 03/01/2021 11:50

I've been laid in bed all morning with dd2, her on tablet me on phone.

I've just got up and plan to put most decorations away, think I might leave the tree until Wednesday though - normally down on 2nd but life is a bit grey at the minute.

Will make toad in the hole later and get school bags and packed lunches ready and that is about it.

bartymao · 03/01/2021 11:51

Getting ready for school opening tomorrow

peboh · 03/01/2021 11:52

Not much this morning. Heading out to meet a friend for a takeaway coffee later (tier 4. So outdoors) so will have to wrap up warm. Then home for dinner and a workout once dd goes to bed.
The start of 2021 is certainly not what I'd have ever expected.

Vivana · 03/01/2021 11:52

On my weekend off so lots of washing Sad

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 03/01/2021 11:54

I'm going to get a food shop, put a wash on and cook a stew. DC might be persuaded to help.
Kids and DH are taking down the Christmas decs.

We did do a wholesome walk yesterday and I can get them to join in with me doing home workouts and playing a board game or baking so we maybe manage one 'family activity' per day or more likely alternate days but other than that it's largely wall to wall screen time.

They have had a tonne of screen time over these holidays. I had COVID, then DH had COVID so we've been 1 parent down the whole month. Kids have been fine throughout but required to self isolate and now Tier 4, can't see friends, everything shut and home schooling. Plus as I am NHS and now COVID immune so I am going to be working long hours covering for everyone else who has got it or is self isolating.

So yeh I am a shit parent currently.
I am just hoping that I can make up for it when all this is over.
I am planning exciting fantasy family holidays and trips in my head.

LindaEllen · 03/01/2021 12:07

Well I need to go to the supermarket, so building myself up for that one. DP and DSS are back at work/college tomorrow so I'm going to have a chill afternoon and make us a nice tea, maybe watch a film this evening while it's the end of the holidays, then chase DSS to bed, remove all electricals so he actually goes to sleep, then breathe and watch TV with DP.

No you're not! The kids will have loved the extra screen time! And one holiday isn't going to make or break them. It's so tough this year, getting through the holidays is achievement enough, you don't have to provide stimulating activities every second of every day :).
SimonJT · 03/01/2021 12:15

I went for a run first thing, I forgot my running gloves so my hands were freezing.

Me and my son watched the lion king on the sofa while we ate breakfast.

We’re all doing sod all at the minute.

Later I’m taking my son on a trail where he has to find certain things along the route.

At 4pmish our camper van is being delivered which is very exciting.

Mintjulia · 03/01/2021 12:29

Today is haircut day and I'm hopeless at it but ds' fringe is in his eyes Sad

Then persuading ds to do his drama homework. Then going outside to get some nature shots for a school photo competition.

I took ds cycling yesterday so today I can run on my own (sanity space Smile) while he plays Minecraft.

Later maybe chess or scrabble or assembling his Meccano he got for Xmas.

niki26 · 03/01/2021 12:32

We are self isolating at the moment so doing what we can to get through!

DD5 is currently on iPad - she's watched Jack and the Beanstalk with DH and 3 month old sister this morning! I went back to bed for a bit as I couldn't sleep until about 3am and the baby woke up at 3.30am for a feed (first time in over a month! Typical!). Just made fish finger sandwiches and hot chocolate for brunch....going to prep a lamb curry to pop in slow cooker and continue with taking down decs/sorting house out/tidying.

Love the roasting marshmallows idea! Just told DH and we are going to do that too! (Ran out of milk yesterday but obviously we have huge marshmallows in the cupboard in readiness for this occasion!)

niki26 · 03/01/2021 12:34

I meant DD (aged 5) - not my fifth DD!

IamMaz · 03/01/2021 12:41

Arguing by text with 'D'H....

ReluctantEarlyRiser · 03/01/2021 12:50

Ah sounds like most of us are having similar days then. Makes me feel better about a the screen time Xmas Grin

We have the cold weather gear (although eldest refuses to wear but tbf doesn't seem to feel the cold), just can't face another bloody walk! The kids don't generally enjoy it and it's barely exercise when you're going at toddler pace. Sigh.

We've taken down all the xmas decs, going to have a dust around and then might watch a film together.

Sat on sofa for millionth day running eating shortbread and feeling totally lazy, I will tackle some housework soon, maybe 🤔

shouldistop · 03/01/2021 13:05

Started taking down our Christmas stuff today too. DH and DS are now putting it all away in the eaves which is very exciting for ds as he's not usually allowed in them.
Will be wrapping up soon to get the fire pit going. Freezing here.

Sidalee7 · 03/01/2021 16:19

Went for a run first thing, took tree and decs down.
Now have lamb slow roasting and am watching Mad Men while dc are on the PS. They played football briefly earlier and I went for a walk and got a coffee. Debating having a glass of red.
Feels a nice lazy day before work and online learning tomorrow!

Cam2020 · 03/01/2021 16:23

Decorations down and been shopping for healthy food for the week. Now sitting watching TV, lamenting the end of the holidays.

bloodywhitecat · 03/01/2021 16:38

We haven't done much today, DP has sanded down a new-to-us butchers block and given it a coat of paint. I have cleaned the kitchen, done the hoovering and entertained the baby, we took the dog for a quick walk but it was so blummin' cold. Now cooking a roast while DP feeds the baby, we will attempt to try him with solids again at dinner (which will go about as well as it has since we started 3 months ago) then it will be bed time for baby and we'll chill out in front of the TV.
