Can family help move?

Hiya not sure what thread to put it in but I’m due to move in with my partner in the week. Moving with our daughter.

We live separately at the moment with our families. Flat fell through in lockdown and then went through our savings when he was made redundant but now can move.

Question is do we have to hire movers from two separate houses or our families allowed to help us? It’s into a flat block but first flat. Literally number 1. so worried someone will report us as we are tier 4 but effectively both families have been sticking to guidelines and can assist with the move? I live with mine he lives with his. One of which will become our social bubble as we have a baby under 1.

Anyone know?

Thanks

You could have your family helpmoving your stuff into the flat and then his family can help him move at a separate time.

@Finfintytint probably should of mentioned! His family have a van! And we are taking my bed and tv so it’s going to have to be a crossover

I see. Perhaps have him pick up the bed and tv from doorstep.

Pretty sure guidelines say you can travel and meet etc
In order to facilitate a house live so long as you maintain social distance where possible and ppe etc

I helped my sister move just before Christmas and it was fine, I'm in tier 3 though.

I'm wondering this too. I move next week in tier 4. You are allowed to leave the house to 'facilitate a house move' but it's not clear what that means. Is there a limit to how many people can help? Does it cover family members or only professional removal companies?

I've stuck to the rules religiously so really don't want to break them but there's no way I can move with just me and dp doing it all and we're not using a removal company.

We're moving soon - also tier 4. I'm naively assuming family can help as I think we'll need them. We only need them to load up their cars and drop off.

According to the "rules" If removal firms are unavailable, another household can help you move your belongings, but social distancing guidelines and hygiene measures should be followed where possible.

I don't think anyone would comment on more than one household (how would they know) as long as you are acting sensibly. I have professional movers back in the early lockdown and there was 4 lads with 2 large vans. No one batted an eyelid.

Ok! I will wear masks and have plenty of sanitizer. Hopefully we can get things organised beforehand so it goes smoothly and quickly. Thank you for your help!
