AIBU to be thinking of doing a barbering course

I am giving a lot of thought to doing a barbering course (I'm a woman, just for clarity and mid 40's). I have worked in offices since leaving college and I want to get out of that environment. I have been cutting/clipping some of the menfolk in the family since March and have really enjoyed it. Has anyone else done a barbering course? AIBU?

I haven't done the course myself but I say why not!

There's tons of barbershops where I live and all get very busy so I'd say it's in demand. Also something you can do mobile to keep flexibility!

One of my friends did it. Went from working in a school to being a barber. I have lots of boys so I was very happy for her Grin She's very good. I use clippers on a couple of mine but can only do the same length all over, nothing fancy.

I'd definitely say go for it!

Oh wow! What a great thing to do!

If you would enjoy it, why wouldn't you?

You'll always be in demand, it's a hugely flexible skill and you're giving people something they really want and likely to have fun and lively rapport with clients.

The queues in the barbers round here are huge, apart from a few that are doing appointments only and refuse to see anyone else even when empty, which they often are. No idea how they make any money.

Do the course if you wish of course!

Our high Street is saturated with Barber shops so not sure it's a good business idea. Depends where you live.

It’s a very handy skill to have at the moment op, wish I could cut hair. DH has been doing his own and our three boys’ hair over lockdown but finds it’s quite stressful.

I would think you could do it as an evening class and see how it goes. I can certainly see the appeal of something hands on.
