Been following these covid rules continuously.

Cancelled christmas last minute as its not safe to mix with families, not been out much and doing food shopping in bulk/to last.

I work in a nursery and despite all the warnings ill children are bought in on a regular basis. Ive been ill numerous times this year, ive isolated many times as per guidance.

Yet i still feel robbed of 2020 and robbed of christmas, ive meerly worked and stayed home to help contribute to the non spread of covid. Ive seen my mother once. My children miss their families and "old lives"

Its getting us nowhere, its getting worse and im not reassured in the slightest the government even know what they are doing as they are so concerned with economy health doesnt enter the equation!!

Im not sure keeping schools and workplaces open yet banning any form of fun or family gatherings is the solution.

How can you tell people its not safe to celebrate christmas with families yet send all primary aged children back to mix with many other people in january. It really is a laughing matter.

I am beyond angry at the state of this now. How much more can we be expected to listen to.

Nearly a 1000 deaths just today.

Someone tell me im being unreasonable! I dont think i can deal with any more of this absolute mess.

School is so much more important than Christmas for numerous reasons but you’re not BU for feeling frustrated and fed up. A thousand deaths today...imagine how much worse it would be if we were all mingling.

RunningFromInsanity · 30/12/2020 17:58

You are not U for feeling fed up but I truly believe we are at a turning point now.
Having two vaccines is an incredible achievement and really will reduce those horrible numbers.

Education is more important than Christmas, and the science shows children do not catch or pass it on as much hence why schools are reopening.

1000 deaths is awful but imagine if they had allowed Christmas to be a free for all, the number would be far far greater.

PrincessNutNuts · 30/12/2020 18:20

We all feel a similarly OP.

But we have light at the end of the tunnel now.

We have to focus on the end in sight. "Keep our eyes on the prize."

And do our best to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

It's nearly over.

But it's always darkest just before the dawn.

Keep the faith.

Suzi888 · 30/12/2020 18:28

Try not to focus on the deaths, not all of them will be covid. Terminal cancer patients, that have covid are counted as dying from covid.
The vaccine is here, I think it’ll start improving soon. January is always pretty flat! Hang in there!

the science shows children do not catch or pass it on as much

I thought the same could not be said with the new strain?

And I have to say, it's cut a swathe through our secondary school, despite them doing their best with fuck all resourcing, to implement the recommendations to hinder infection.

My youngest was told to stay home on the last day of school - there were insufficient staff and pupils to make it worthwhile to open.

My eldest was self isolating because she'd been advised she was a close contact of two cases.

and the science shows children do not catch or pass it on as much

The science says no such thing.
Given that children have not been tested it is a bullshit statement.

Terminal cancer patients, that have covid are counted as dying from covid.

Terminal cancer patients include many people who have months or years to live.

If I have terminal cancer and die from injuries sustained in a car crash it's not the cancer that killed me, even if it might have decreased my ability to survive the injuries from the car crash.

If a person with terminal cancer has Covid it's likely that the Covid will make them seriously unwell and even die.

Wigglegiggle0520 · 30/12/2020 18:58

You work in a nursery yet can’t see the importance of educating children and safeguarding vulnerable children Hmm

Livelovebehappy · 30/12/2020 19:01

There’s light at the end of the tunnel now. We just need to jump that final fence then it will all be over. Try to focus on something positive - look at holidays and trips you might be taking next year, and get togethers you’ll be having with friends and family.
