DS came to England at Christmas, He was due to go home Boxing day, car broke down so couldn't go, he is due to go back Saturday. Is he allowed? Also, it may mean that I will have to take him, is this possible? We are Tier 4 Thanks

If he lives in Wales then he's allowed to return home. It sounds like he shouldn't have gone in the first place but too late now. If the only way for him to get back is by you giving him a lift then that's what you'll have to do.

Brighterthansunflowers · 30/12/2020 17:26

He was breaking the rules by not travelling home til Boxing Day anyway, why are you suddenly worrying now?

Itsjustsoconfusing · 30/12/2020 17:27

He came home when he was allowed, things have changed while he's been here

Not in Wales.

Yeah, he is in uni

If no guidance from the uni about when to return then just take him Saturday.

Itsjustsoconfusing · 30/12/2020 17:45

I just can't keep up with or all, at one point students could come home from the 9th, so that's what he done,
Now our tiers have changed, I don't know if he should return or stay.
I've tried googling it and every website says something different so I just don't know what to do

It's better for him to stay at home. All uni teaching is now online.

It's safer for him to stay at home.

Welsh government guidance for students here: gov.wales/higher-education-coronavirus-guide#section-55792

Short answer is that you can take him back, but not this Saturday. You have to wait for his university to give him a date to return.

LindainLockdown · 30/12/2020 18:02

If he needs to return you can take him (obviously return immediately, do not enter his accommodation etc.)
If he can study online at your home that is probably the best bet for now but universities appreciate that is not feasible for all students and are not preventing the return of students.

Brighterthansunflowers · 30/12/2020 18:03

If he’s a student he should stay in your home until given a window to return by his university. Although tbh from today’s English press conference it sounds like uni students will be encouraged to stay in their parents home longer if possible.

Changi · 30/12/2020 18:04

All uni teaching is now online.

It isn't.

The Welsh government IS preventing the return of students until 11 January and it will be a phased return after that.

LindainLockdown · 30/12/2020 18:14

Suppose it depends on where he lives, if in a hall of residence, yes suppose return can be prevented until the 11th, if in private rented accommodation can't see how the Welsh or any other government can prevent a student returning to the home they are paying for.
