Just watched this again after years and years - and sobbed uncontrollably at the end!

I truly love the film, it's beautiful!

Still upset now!

Was there a question?

ClaryFairchild · 29/12/2020 21:43

YANBU - I love it and always sob too!

FlatulentSproutEater · 29/12/2020 21:44

YABU

binkyblinky · 29/12/2020 21:51

Sorry my question was, am I being unreasonable crying buckets over a film!

binkyblinky · 29/12/2020 21:52

@ClaryFairchild I forgot how emotional it is at the end!

Meh. It's OK, but not a patch on the original from 1956... ('The King and I' with Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr...)

WisestIsShe · 29/12/2020 21:53

YANBU it's a beautiful film.

OppsUpsSide · 29/12/2020 21:54

YANBU I love it, one of my all time favourites (but it has to be the ‘original’ version)

binkyblinky · 29/12/2020 21:54

I think I need to try to see the original film! Thankyou!

OP posts:
JaceLancs · 29/12/2020 21:58

I was only thinking the other day I want to see the original version again

Notverygrownup · 29/12/2020 21:59

I love the film, and also saw Yul Brynner perform in the stage version in London years ago. Always have a little sniffle at the film, but sobbed hopelessly in the theatre - so embarrassing to go out into the street all puffy eyed and snotty.

It's wonderful.

Maybe my opinion on Anna and the King is blighted because I saw the original first! If I saw AATK first, I may feel like you about it. Smile

binkyblinky · 29/12/2020 22:13

I think Chow Yun Fat is soooo attractive in it too 😌 now I need to find out if it's streaming for free anywhere!

YABU !
You need to watch The King and I instead! I only need to watch a short clip of the scene with the king dying and I'm in floods of tears.

BeaLola · 29/12/2020 23:12

Oh yes - the original every single time - Deborah Kerr in those wonderful dresses - they need to make films like this again - not the current rubbish with the "F" word every other sentence minimum

Oh I love that film amongst many others Smile

Mittens030869 · 30/12/2020 00:34

I agree with PPs, the original, the King and I, is far superior. I haven’t seen it in years; I would love for it to be shown at Christmas again.

I cry every time I go the theatre!! Even Shrek the Musical made me cry.

I mean, not sistine chapel type reaction, but I do feel overwhelmed with emotion in when we go the theatre.

Notverygrownup · 31/12/2020 11:15

@mittens it was on a couple of weeks ago. My df is disabled and we spend a lot of time browsing telly channels in the daytime: it does pop up fairly regularly.
