This came up as a question on University Challenge the other day, and I had to come here and tell you all! We all laughed at that poor woman on holiday in Rome, whose husband had no sympathy. And now I find out that she had a real condition. We should all be ashamed of ourselves.

Is this some kind of sick joke?! It's not April 1st already is it?

Separateatone · 28/12/2020 18:59

Ha ha!

Brighterthansunflowers · 28/12/2020 19:02

Haha brilliant

surelynotnever · 28/12/2020 19:03

People referenced that in the original thread.

unicornparty · 28/12/2020 19:03

Oh wow! That thread was hilarious

Oh, damn, I missed that!

My mother couldn't understand why I was giggling so much at University Challenge. That thread was gold.

oops!! Grin

Aquamarine1029 · 28/12/2020 19:06

That woman was unhinged. I'm amazed her husband didn't abandon her and fly home.

CountFosco · 28/12/2020 19:07

I feel very uncultured now. I ate a large lunch after visiting the Uffizzi, no heart palpitations or screaming at all. Does getting annoyed at the children count?

Mangerfield · 28/12/2020 19:09

Sounds like it's Beatlemania, but gets called a Proper Name when it happens to learnèd men...

youvegottenminuteslynn · 28/12/2020 19:16

Still my all time favourite thread. I was incredibly ill in hospital a while ago (look at me with my sistene level hyperbole) and read it to get me through an especially awful afternoon. My god it was a lifesaver. The irony is that when I read the thread I have tears streaming down my face too Grin

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 28/12/2020 19:21

I'm like that when I see an artistic spider. Grin

LadyHalesBroach · 28/12/2020 19:23

Please oh please can someone link it here? I’ve just tried looking for it in classics. I could do with a giggle, I remember being in fits last time.

PandemicPavolova · 28/12/2020 19:24

It was one of fabulous threads

NewyearNewme2021 · 28/12/2020 19:26

Well there you go

I wonder what did happen to the poster of that original Sistine chapel thread?

HotSince63 · 28/12/2020 19:28

Oh I bloody LOVED that thread, thanks Aquamarine, off to pour myself a glass of wine before reading it again Grin

Yes, men are "consumed with ardent passion" women are "hysterical bunny boilers". Twas ever thus. Grin

user127819 · 28/12/2020 19:35

I read about Stendhall syndrome the other day while in a Jerusalem syndrome rabbit hole, and immediately thought of that thread!

Aquamarine1029 · 28/12/2020 19:39

I'd pay good money to observe the Sistine Screamer in Florence.

HotSince63 · 28/12/2020 19:40

Have you considered a visit to the wailing wall? This may be where you will find your people

^That post on that thread gets me every time Grin

heidbuttsupper · 28/12/2020 19:44

That thread was great!

youvegottenminuteslynn · 28/12/2020 19:44

I get jealous when someone on a new thread says they've never read the Sistine one before. They have so much to look forward to!

It actually is, in Spain. Happy Fools' Day Grin
