Pregnancy and covid

Posted this in pregnancy as well but know this one gets more traffic!

Currently 16 weeks. Tier 4 area.

Dh and u have followed the rules to the letter pretty much since the first lockdown in March. I've wfh since then, dd(5) missed the last 4 months of nursery before starting school, have barely seen friends or family etc.

Dh can't work from home as his job involves him being out fixing things to keep infrastructure going (think road maintenance etc)

Dh tested positive for covid Christmas eve (test was then, got the results back yesterday!)

His whole workplace are pretty much down with it, it looks like one person on the team came in with cold symptoms and its ripped through the team

So far dh has lost his sense of taste and smell and is exhausted and struggling to get out of bed. No breathing problems yet.

He is now pretty much isolating in our spare room but seen as he was probably contagious for a few days before with no symptoms I'm convinced I'm going to get it.

Wondering if anyone else has had covid while pregnant or has any advice!

Should mention that unfortunately I also fall into 2 categories that put pregnant women slightly higher at risk - over 35 and currently overweight (was obses at the beginning of this year but managed to lose 4 stone since last January!) Am working hard to try and keep the weight gain to a minimum and am still running 30 mins a day (on a home treadmill so can at least carry this on during isolation)

Hi OP, I'm 37 weeks pregnant and haven't had it myself but at least 4 mums from the 'due jan 2021' FB group have had it while pregnant. As far as I know none had any serious symptoms or bad effects on bub.

So very sorry that's happened but hope that your DH and you will both come through it relatively unscathed. Congratulations on your pregnancy! x

I am sorry to hear your husband caught covid at work Flowers. Well done on your weight loss & congratulations on your pregnancy.
I have no experience regarding pregnancy & covid however I am aware of couples who did catch it but not their partners. How is your husband? I hope he isn't too bad with it.

Thank you for the replies. They're reassuring.

So far dh is struggling with cold and flu symptoms and feeling achy and exhausted but it's not on his chest at the moment so keeping him topped up with fluids and paracetamol.

Am hoping I gave kept my distance early enough to not catch it but unfortunately his symptoms started off as a headache and not the usual ones you are told to look out for.

Also trying to keep a 5 year old daddy's girl away is proving interesting. All she wants to do is cuddle him to make him feel better!
