Dry Socket Complications....

ON CHRISTMAS DAY!!!
To be fair, it's been brewing a while... Tooth out a week and a half ago, dry socket almost immediately so I had it cleaned and packed and given antibiotics. I was so hopeful that it would be recovering nicely by Christmas day... But no. .....

Antibiotics finished 2 days ago and the extraction site is now so swollen I can't close my mouth! !

My poor 4 year old is so excited about her stocking and presents and I can't even speak 😭😭

I'm waiting for the emergency dentist to ring me to make appointment for today.

THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY WORKING ON CHRISTMAS DAY!!!!!

It's my husband's first Christmas day off in a few years (nurse) so I feel as though it's all a bit...well. ...shit. .....

Sending love to anybody else in dental pain or any other sort of pain that is causing them to be a 'tad' antisocial 😂 xxx

Oh no op! I've had dry socket numerous times, but would have expected you to be out of the woods by now! Let us know how you get on Flowers

Ah OP
That’s utterly grim
Lots of painkillers and optimal salt water rinses
Also clove oil , it does work

Tooth ache is the worst and dry socket is genuinely one of the worst things I’ve had to deal with. My dentist managed to pack it with cloves which was disgusting but really helped take the pain away. Hope you can get it sorted op

Aw how utterly shit Sad I had a dry socket last year and I honestly put it in the top three most physically painful experiences of my life. Hope you feel better soon Flowers

O dare OP! Sending hugs! Hate tooth ache! Might need more/stronger antibiotics. Not sure if rinses are recommended for dry sockets? Do you have a dental hospital near by? Sounds awful! You can take paracetamol and ibuprofen together as long as you don't go over the stated doses for 24hr period. Hope it is resolved soon. Flowers

Oh bless you! Honestly as soon as they get the avogel in ( can't spell it and I'm a dental nurse 🙈) it will feel so much better straight away so don't panic it won't ruin your day itl be sorted!

Ukholidaysaregreat · 25/12/2020 10:05

O dear! Auto correct! Doh.

merlotormalbec · 25/12/2020 10:05

Dental hospitals aren't open itl be a hub somewhere but I know a lot of people working and I doubt it will be busy. It's a quick fix itl be okay xx

Ah shit OP, sending you my commiserations. I had that this summer and I’ve never felt pain like it. I actually went a bit demented with the pain. I hope you feel better soon!

Thank you so much everybody for your shared experiences and sympathies!! God, I was feeling sorry for self! It's the first day today that I've not wanted to cut my head off! Two weeks of throbbing and swelling.

I feel awful about Christmas day though. I was trying so hard to be on form for my little girls but couldn't quite manage it... I had to make two trips 1)dentist to repack and clean and 2)to chemist which only opened for 2 hours later in the day for antibiotics!
The dentist said it looked like it had been a traumatic extraction as the gum was cut from where my dentist had been pressing down the instruments. It was also full of mouth ulcers! !!!

Luckily it was just my mother in law who joined us for lunch so minimal entertaining!

Yesterday, I got some sterile gauze and soaked in TCP and clove oil and kept it in for 6 hours. the relief was insane! !!

I think I must have bitten a bit too aggressively as there seems to be a new blood clot appearing.(which is good!)

PLEASE say that this is getting better now!!!

Lots of love to you all xxxx
