As a small business owner with 40% of my sales being overseas, and a pile of orders waiting to go out.... This is really really bad news.

No word as to how long it'll be, and I can't imagine Brexit next week will help.

They say Europe is the only suspension, but then list a lot of non European countries.

Its due to this new strain... AIBU to get really concerned now, considering how so many officials are freaking out?

If the planes aren't flying, then the mail isn't leaving.

At least it's likely stuff that was posted by deadline for Christmas is already safely underway (last posting dates vary, but most were before 16 December)

But tough for your January orders, OP, and not much you can tell your customers at the moment.

The list of countries on the link looks to be every country in the world. The top bit is the latest update on Europe but you can click on any country to see recent alerts for them.

Yes you're quite right, I saw that after I posted. It's a badly worded sentence by royal mail to have "countries with suspensions listed below" and then literally every country written below in red 😅

Europe and Canada is still terrible news for my business

Its only to Europe and Ireland. Can you not use a different courier service?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/12/2020 08:49

That page is badly worded. Most of those alerts are not on the suspended service list.

Is it however going to create a real headache with domestic mail though as the services get full with non moving European mail?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/12/2020 08:49

x post!

mintich · 22/12/2020 08:51

Can you send by courier at all? Or are they suspending services too?.

www.parcel2go.com Has some international couriers that are not terribly priced. I'm not sure of their service, and worry that if RM can't deliver then these couriers may run into the same issues... With it being 10x harder to recover post from them
