Do you open all presents no matter who they are from on Xmas day ? ( YABNU)

Or do you open them as you get them? (YABU)

Christmas Day! Apart from things like the work secret Santa which I do at the time.

CrispySeaweedIsReallyCabbage · 21/12/2020 20:27

Yes, Christmas Day here too.

rottiemum88 · 21/12/2020 20:29

Christmas Day, apart from work secret Santa

Gertie75 · 21/12/2020 20:30

Usually all on Christmas day, last week however I had a present that I could tell was a box of Ferrero Rocher and I'd had a totally rubbish day so I opened them in the evening and ate the whole lot along with a few glasses of Bailey's.
I felt sick afterwards but happy sick.

bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 21/12/2020 20:31

I think it's nice for the giver to see children open pressies so we open some as we go along if given in person. Otherwise they go under the tree til Christmas day

CatRamsey · 21/12/2020 20:31

Christmas day for most, except for my friend who I usually see on Christmas Eve to give her and her kids their presents, I love to see them opening them and I open mine from them too. Sad to not be able to do that this year!

Pipandmum · 21/12/2020 20:31

All on Christmas day. I stick them under three if I get anything before (which I don't actually, but if I did).

Sparklesocks · 21/12/2020 20:35

Zero judgement here

Christmas Day but try and stagger them over the day to space it out a bit

topcat2014 · 21/12/2020 20:36

Children opening presents before Christmas day is shocking!!

EnglishRose1320 · 21/12/2020 20:39

All on Christmas day apart from secret santas and this year we had some freshly baked goods sent from friends with a note to say enjoy straight away!

HunterHearstHelmsley · 21/12/2020 20:39

I open from anyone I won't be with when I receive them (but don't tell them I've opened them!) I open the presents from people I'll be with on the day.

I always find it a bit weird opening presents from people that aren't there with other people. That's just me being weird though.

Monsterjam · 21/12/2020 20:40

@topcat2014 shocking? Why so?

june2007 · 21/12/2020 20:42

TRy to do a preseant each at a time. OIt,s hard keeping track of who sent what, whose is what whose had what if it,s a free for all. But different families do things differently.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 21/12/2020 20:43

My kids open their presents from my parents as they get them. They like to see the kids open them and we don't spend Xmas day together. We do a family secret Santa, which get opened on Christmas Eve, along with new pjs and presents from us. Then presents from Santa are opened on Christmas Day. We have 8 children so need to spread it out a bit or it can be chaos

Lookslikerainted · 21/12/2020 20:45

@rottiemum88

Christmas Day, apart from work secret Santa
Same
BackforGood · 21/12/2020 20:51

Secret Santa (if done) and the token gift we get from Manager at work, I open before.
Then open those on the day that are under the tree, but, generally, if we aren't seeing family on Christmas day, then we don't have the presents until the day we see them, which will be in the few days after Christmas.
So neither YABU nor YANBU really.
Never been an issue where there are present waiting, other than those from house family.

partyatthepalace · 21/12/2020 21:24

On Christmas Day!

One each for the kids in the AM, rest after lunch.

Anything else is sacrilege...

BadLad · 21/12/2020 21:27

Usually all on Christmas morning, but this year I'm waiting until evening as my wife is working. Also that way I can Skype my family in the uk and we can watch each other open them.

CherryRoulade · 21/12/2020 21:29

Christmas Day unless to do so would upset the person giving it.

Ponoka7 · 21/12/2020 21:30

I don't want presents so I open them as soon as I get them to rehome or donate them. I ask every year to not give me anything, but there's a few people who ignore me.

Spacerader · 21/12/2020 21:35

It depends in the circumstances. The children's god mother posts presents theh fo under the tree until Christmas day. But usually everyone else comes and visits or we visit them around Christmas and we exchange gifts and open them in front of each other. Its very rare people send gifts over for Christmas day.

@Gertie75 Sounds like my kind of dinner!
FightingWithTheWind · 21/12/2020 21:38

My mil insists on seeing the children open presents from her and so those are opened when she gives them to them, everything else however is opened on christmas morning.

AnnaSW1 · 21/12/2020 21:42

All on Christmas Day
