To tip the bin men&women?

Do you tip the people who empty your bins? It's bin day tomorrow (Monday). I was talking to my mum earlier and she mentioned she is leaving a tip for them this week. I know she's always done it but I never have.

I feel I should this year! And I have remembered in time to get cash for tomorrow.

Do you tip the bin collectors? If so how much? I would like to and can afford to, but have no idea how much is appropriate, if anything?! £10/£20/£50?!

YANBU - give them a tip, they've earned it!

YABU - don't tip them a penny.

I do. Plus the postman and whoever does my supermarket delivery with all the Xmas stuff. I give them £10 but I imagine they would be happy with whatever you can afford.

GreenTiles22 · 20/12/2020 21:57

Yes I'll keep an eye out for the postie tomorrow too.

I do but I'm afraid it's more of a bribe if I'm perfectly honest; to do with coming to get the bin. There are 3 of them on the round so I give them £30. It keeps them sweet.

I give the milkman £10 or so .. don't see the window cleaner and pay him by transfer so don't give him anything.

If you are able to easily it's a nice thing to do. They've had as bad a year as any of us.

Nope, never have. I don't tip many people if I'm honest.

Bluetonic41 · 20/12/2020 23:01

Well I didn't and they left one of my bins blocking my driveway this week (live on a main road so a bit of a pain when returning from the school run) Grin so maybe you should...

inmylifeIlovedthemall · 20/12/2020 23:05

Yes. £20 for the bin men. £10 for each of my (2) Posties and £10 for the supermarket delivery driver.

They have all had a tough year and I can just about afford it given that I haven’t been anywhere since March.

EddieBananas · 20/12/2020 23:07

No because they probably earn more than me and i don't get tips!

tennecoon23 · 20/12/2020 23:12

I would do if our bin man wasn't my other half's grandad 🤣🤣

I do every Christmas - corona or not. I leave a pack of fosters. Not very posh but I figure they can have a can each. I run out and say 'just a thank you'. X

Mine come about 6am so I'd have to leave something taped to the bin and I'm sure it would get swiped overnight. I use to leave a tip for postie but they are different ones now.
