To buy a turkey today?

I have a shop being delivered today. I added a turkey but now wondering if it will be ok date wise. Anyone else buying a turkey this weekend?

I am wondering the same thing. I think there is going to be a massive scramble for SMALL turkeys because many people will not be catering for the usual extended family.

I want the tiniest turkey possible!

I happened to be in Waitrose when the announcement was made, we were planning to go to my parents' I picked up a small turkey crown but there were lots of people doing the same whilst making frantic phone calls, I'd expect the supermarkets to be busy today

I won’t be stressing over it.

To have turkey is traditional but I wouldn’t personally want to chance buying it today (although you could get frozen).
There are many alternatives.

Freeze it as soon as it arrives. Defrost in time. Bingo.

It will be fine, surely they plan that the turkey is for Christmas day. Although I peaked too soon and my ham is best before 23rd, I got that a week ago.

Check the date when it arrives and if it’s no good send it back and brace yourself for the shops!

You can always pop it in the freezer, I'd be tempted to cook it and freeze it in slices with a bit of gravy then it won't take long to defrost on Xmas eve

Tesco food to order turkeys were available on deliveries tomorrow so the dates must be fine for Xmas day

The frozen ones were only available on deliveries until 19th

I heard on Facebook people were practically fighting over them yesterday evening so sharpen your elbows. All the folk that thought they were going elsewhere for dinner now want one.

Good lord, I wouldn't fight over turkey. Turkey is the cheap stuff you put in curries IMO. Got to hide it under so many sauces and sides that it might as well be a log of wood under there. We have a half leg of lamb and the appropriate veggies laid in because we saw this coming.

Farm foods have small frozen bernard Matthew's turkeys. Might be a shop lots of people might not do their big shop.
