CurrysPC World warning

Just want to warn everybody about this business. Ordered a high value produce on Black Friday to collect in store - had confirmation number and money taken. Nothing arrived. They did this to a lot of people so were issuing codes on a special form to honour BF prices. Reordered and told would be delivered on specific day last week. Nothing. They now say order didn’t go through despite me having a confirmation number and delivery date.
What they are doing is overtaking orders without having stock. What this does is mean you don’t get the goods but also your money is tied up with them so you can’t go anywhere else to get in time for Christmas.
Customer service is non existent so warning people to not order from them if you want something for the holidays.

Thanks for the heads up. This only thing I will buy from them is kettles for this reason
We are lucky to have a small independent electrical shop so I always use that
I hope you get it sorted soon

curiouscat1987 · 19/12/2020 17:10

With me, they just took my money. Although they were good enough to tell me the order hadn't actually gone through...after I'd spent hours on hold to customer services. Couldnt explain why they'd still take my money, or tell me when I'd get it back. Didn't even apologise - won't ever be ordering from them again!

Whatisthisfuckery · 19/12/2020 17:26

I had this happened to me with a click and collect item during Black Friday week. They took the money but I wasn’t allowed to collect the item. Apparently it was a glitch in the system whereby the transaction wasn’t approved, so though they had my money and the item was waiting to be picked, nothing could be done. I needed the item straight away and luckily had enough money in my account to go elsewhere, so I canceled the item and had to wait for a refund.

i’m not entirely surprised to be honest. Apologies to anybody who works for currys here, but I think they are complete shit and their customer service is appalling.

VicMackey · 19/12/2020 17:31

Slippery practice, I’ve had this happen with them too. They have very little stock but it never says this on their website.

123rd · 19/12/2020 17:35

I hate this co. I'd rather pay £20 extra for a product than deal with them

PinkiOcelot · 19/12/2020 17:39

That’s disgusting that. I’ve just ordered a dishwasher. It better come as planned.

MissConductUS · 19/12/2020 17:45

That's awful. Laptops were in very short supply at the beginning of the pandemic as so many people and companies were trying to buy them for working from home, but the shortages are over now.

We always order directly from Dell. They're very clear on their website about what's in stock and what isn't, and if it's not in stock when you can expect shipment. They also don't charge your payment method until they ship your order to you.

WingingWonder · 19/12/2020 17:46

It’s a ghosting system issue and is due to the stock feed from suppliers to retailers

1Morewineplease · 19/12/2020 17:48

I feel certain that many people go there to check out the appliances etc... but then order online.
We've bought the odd appliance in the past but no more. We can't stand the half an hour or so that it takes to actually purchase the item, the pitch for their extortionate warranties and the length of time it takes for the item to be delivered.
We only ever go there for pc/laptop support now.
I'm not sure how this company is surviving.

Feelinglost006 · 19/12/2020 18:05

Went In there 3 days ago . Found an iPad reduced so tracked down a member of staff after being ignored they looked it up on a handheld device and said it was out of stock. I was quite annoyed and said why not put a sticker on it or take it off display and the guy said rather shittily ‘cos we would have no stock out if we did that ‘ I did suggest it would prevent people wasting their time. I also purchased a chrome book which won’t come into store until today. Had no email so far to say it’s arrived though so hoping I don’t have issues

WeevilStepmother · 19/12/2020 18:08

Same. Ordered something on 3 Dec, due by 11 Dec. Never got the shipping email or tracking number. Chased via Twitter and was eventually told it was out of stock (not stated on the website) but they now had stock and would send it. Took two more days to be dispatched and finally arrived yesterday.

goopsoup · 19/12/2020 18:09

That hasn’t been my experiencing with CPCW. Ordered a £500 iPad, didn’t like it, spoke to customer service, they arranged collection and refunded me.

I wanted another iPad, they said the one I wanted wasn’t in stock so said to go to a store as they can’t sell it to me as it’s not in stock.

They did the best they could, and customer service via phone was fab. Email was slower but I expected that due to COVID.

M4J4 · 19/12/2020 18:10

iPads are out of stock everywhere it seems.

Lockheart · 19/12/2020 18:10

This is not trustpilot.

Feelinglost006 · 19/12/2020 18:12

@M4J4 managed to get one from apple it’s a refurbished one but comes with a 1 year warranty

Teenageromance · 19/12/2020 18:22

@Feelinglost006 your order will be cancelled without any notification to you - you will just be left hanging wondering what’s happened.

Thanks!

Toomanycats99 · 19/12/2020 18:36

I tried to collect something and return it to them straightaway. It took an hour to do the return. There were 4 people ahead of me in the queue!

Feelinglost006 · 19/12/2020 18:38

Ok well I have a receipt from them and I have had an email from apple come through saying that a qualifying product from currys means I can get a 6 month apple subscription so I am assuming the laptop is coming from that

donquixotedelamancha · 19/12/2020 18:42

There can't be very many people who don't know CPCW are shit can there?

They recruit their complaints handlers exclusively from people who were sacked by Ryanair for having a bad attitude to customers and former GP's receptionists. Chris Grayling designed their stock ordering system and Gerald Ratner is their head of Quality Assurance.

They solved the problem of their shit reputation by buying up every other company in this sector. Sometimes you just have to use them.

Whammyyammy · 19/12/2020 18:43

My tumble dryer packed up last week, went on curry's one, a dryers had 10-21 day delivery/collect estimate.
Went on ao, delivery in 2 days.

Currys will soon be a thing if the past with that business model

donquixotedelamancha · 19/12/2020 18:44

This is not trustpilot.

Yes, no-one ever has an opinion about companies on MN.

ChristmasFluff · 19/12/2020 18:46

I cannot comment on any of this. but during coronavirus lockdown, Currys were the only people in my area who would come out and remove my broken cooker and replace it (once restrictions allowed).

They did so, even though they found various problems with how the original oven was installed. I am very grateful to them.

On the back of this, I used them to deliver a laptop when mine died - it was delivered very quickly.
