Work Christmas meeting

Xmasgrump · 17/12/2020 12:38

Just had a zoom team meeting which had no set agenda, instead just was filling time for an hour.

One colleague suggested let’s all sing along to a Christmas song (which is bad enough) and then the big boss decided yes, and I’ll record the meeting too.

Aibu to hand in my notice now?! Or should I crack open the Sherry instead.

Mine starts in a few minutes, it is four hours long, compulsory, various quizzes and games and we are meant to dress up and eat lunch together over Teams.

Not happy at all about this!!!

Ffsnosexallowed · 17/12/2020 12:46

Thank god I work for nhs and we're too busy for that sort of shite.

SantasBritchesSpelleas · 17/12/2020 12:49

Time for your wi-fi to mysteriously drop out. Did you mention it's been a bit iffy lately?

What a shame Xmas Smile.

Twickerhun · 17/12/2020 12:51

Sadly my wifi wasn’t great in my team Christmas lunch either. I signed in but couldn’t have the camera on as I didn’t have enough upload speed. Shame.

triceratops12 · 17/12/2020 12:53

This sounds absolutely horrendous. I hate this shit

LadyR77 · 17/12/2020 13:38

Oh god, definitely time for your wifi to develop issues! I loathe enforced "jollity", especially over bloody Zoom!!

MissMaple82 · 17/12/2020 13:54

I feel grateful that I dont have to endure this sort of bollocks! I'd quit there amd then 😉

KatherineOfGaunt · 17/12/2020 13:57

I have headset I use for work and you can mute the mic without having to mute in Teams, so they can't tell I have my mic off. Very useful for claiming mic issues so I don't have to contribute when they start trying to be "jolly".

TillyTopper · 17/12/2020 14:17

That sounds horrendous! We just have an hour and you can drop in for a chat with whoever's on the call and have a drink in your hand if you want. It's super relaxed though so some will go all out some do nothing. I'm thankful for that!!

The3Ls · 17/12/2020 14:19

Yep NHS perk is no time for this enforced fun lol

HitthatroadJack · 17/12/2020 14:29

bloody Virgin/BT/neighbours cutting the power down your block at that exact time!

So inconvenient at this time of the year when you have no heating and the fridge full. Wankers.

At least you can ask for a recording of what you've missed, so you won't feel so bad. Halo

ReeseWitherfork · 17/12/2020 14:38

Goodness I work for the NHS and they've attempted to do a few bits like this. I'm obviously in the wrong bit. (And we are painfully bloody busy!!!!)

Sherry OP. And annual leave on the forced fun days next year!

This is genius!
IntermittentParps · 17/12/2020 14:41

This all makes me very glad I'm a freelancer. I've sent an e-card to clients and have received a few, but other than that my work days up to Christmas continue to involve me sitting in silence apart from the radio, eating what I want when I want and only singing if something good comes on Grin

Sympathies, OP.

Pringwells · 17/12/2020 14:47

Mine is tomorrow, 3 hours of enforced jollity

My annual leave starts today so I am missing it, oh no, gutted...!

I read that as ‘a fridge full of wankers’ Grin
nosswith · 17/12/2020 15:28

I wouldn't, just mime.

HitthatroadJack · 17/12/2020 15:37

would give a new meaning to "panic buying" Grin

4 hours?! Bloody hell, that's s bit much!
Xmasgrump · 17/12/2020 17:12

4 hours sounds like pure hell on Earth. My one hour today was bad, tomorrow we have a team drinks ‘sesh’ where my boss told me he’ll get bollocked by big boss if we don’t all attend and show our enthusiasm.

Fuck it, bit of sellotape over the camera lens to make it go blurry and tell them I’ve got laptop issues.

All the Tiktoks may suggest otherwise 😬
