To think the NHS covid app has got it wrong?

Let me just make clear that I fully respect the tier system, social distancing rules, etc. I have been and continue to be incredibly careful.
Earlier this evening I got a notification from the NHS covid app telling me I've been in close contact with someone who has tested positive and that I need to self isolate for 10 days until the end of 26 December.
I'm gutted as this means I now won't be able to see my family or anyone else at Christmas, but I hope whoever I was in contact with makes a full recovery of course.
My issue is, I haven't been in contact with anyone since last Friday, I live alone and literally haven't left my house since then. When out I've always had the app active and scan those Q codes, so surely the app should recognise where I've been and when I made contact and date my quarantine from then? AIBU?

Hasn't it always been dodgy and glitchy?

YANBU, surely if the last time you came into contact with another person was last Friday then you will have completed 10 days self isolation on Monday 21st?

It’s been well publicised this week that the app still says to isolate for 14 days when it should be 10. You need to isolate for 10 days from last Friday. The app is going to be updated next week.

No, not really. Hmm
Sycamoretrees · 17/12/2020 01:35

Has your app been updated since they changed it from 14 days to 10?

borntohula · 17/12/2020 01:36

@CarpetTime well, in my experience, it really has. :)

www.digitalhealth.net/2020/11/nhs-covid-19-app-error-left-thousands-unaware-they-need-to-isolate/

And of course, the disappearing exposure notifications. But nah, an app can't possibly be unreliable, what a crazy idea.

Nordman · 17/12/2020 01:43

I have the latest version of the app, and it's giving the new ten days as the quarantine period, but it's saying it from today when I haven't been in contact with anyone since last Friday. I just don't get why it can't recognise when I made contact with someone and date my quarantine from the . It should be smarter, surely.

I got a notification last week to isolate for 4 days, I wasn't quite sure why it was only 4 days but I'm a student nurse currently on placement so I told work about it and was advised to isolate.
