Coke Zero while pregnant

I am coming to the end (hopefully) of a really awful few weeks of vomiting/nausea and not being able to eat or drink (forced water down me). I’m trying to build up my food/fluid intake again and be healthy but my one vice (would actually say addiction) is Coke Zero. Pre-pregnancy I would drink a can or small bottle a day and have recently started craving it again. I’ve had 2 bottles over 3 days. I’m telling myself it’s ok but is it really ok to drink it whilst pregnant? Feel free to put me in my place if necessary, I obviously don’t want to harm the baby!

You'll be fine, don't worry.

I was working 13 hour nightshifts in my second pregnancy. If I didn't drink an energy drink before
I drove home, I would've crashed the car. That was more of an issue to me than caffine.

As an aside, the doctors I worked with used to try and ply me with espresso as well before I left as I had an hours drive home after horrendously busy shifts and pregnancy fatigue on top. I don't like coffee though.

As long as you're not getting caffeine from any where else (chocolate, tea etc) then why not!

The gold coke tins are sugar and caffeine free.

You'll be fine.
I tried to avoid coke in pregnancies. I did for the first two. Had morning sickness 24/7 for the entire way through.
When pregnant with #3 I had a can and found that it did clear morning sickness amazingly for me. Wish I'd done it in the first two.
I still felt queasy, but if I drank coke as I ate I could actually hold down something. I was much more healthy for it.

I’m pregnant with baby number 2 and drinking a lot of Coke Zero and stuff but I find it helps me because I have horrendous nausea right now I’m almost 9 weeks pregnant is this ok to do

Does anybody among the older posters among us ever ponder the fact that our mothers ate and drank all sorts of things that are religiously avoided these days in pregnancy and yet somehow we emerged into life healthy and with the correct number of limbs? My mother drank gallons of coffee and tea; one of my most brilliant colleagues joked that her mother never gave up her evening G&T. Not trying to be stupid about good health protocols, and yet still . . . .

I would be more wary about the fact Coke Zero contains aspartame. It's classed as 'possibly carcinogenic'. I wouldn't risk it but with the amount you're consuming, it is likely low exposure.

Sammy931 · 03/10/2023 10:37

Yea I agree with this my mother had all sorts with me and I turned out fine

so the question is should we be afraid of everything we are told or see about what to have and not to while pregnant

I've been craving coke too! I get the decaf no sugar one. It seems to settle my stomach when I'm feeling nauseous.

Pregnancy cravings!
Hi ladies, so I am 21 weeks pregnant and have to have an egg cress sandwich from Aldi! With a Coke Zero nearly every day!
Anyone else got weird cravings?
