Condensed Work Week What Hours Would You Work?

In 2021 our work schedule is changing and I have the chance to make my own 30 hour schedule. What I've done to this point hasn't work, way too much unpaid overtime because our mornings and evenings are very heavy. So I think I want to look at a condensed work week.

I've had an idea that instead of 4 x 7.5 hour days which are always 10-12 hour days because of the morning/evening needs of the population we support, I'd request hours spread over 3 longer days knowing there may be a couple 12 hour days but that's better than how things are now.

Has anyone done this before? I would be requesting a formal condensed work week. But unlike say a hospital based nurse no one takes over when I'm not there, so I'm just unsure if a condensed week will work.

I'm thinking

Day 1: 8 am to 9:30 pm (break from 4-6 pm to be with dc)
Day 2: 8 am to 9:30 pm (break from 4-6 pm to be with dc)
Day 3: 8 am to 3 pm

(the break 4-6 is standard and not something I'm specially requesting)

Has anyone tried this? If so what days do you work? If you had the chance to build a 30 hour a week schedule, how would you do it baring in mind I need at least two evenings a week at work?

Depends on the age of your children (if any).
. At the moment I would prefer 4 shorter days so I felt that I had time with them in the mornings or evenings. I would pay more for childcare probably, but in a lucky position that I would happily do that in recharge for good quality of life.

I don't like the idea of a split day with the break in the middle because I think there is always the risk of something urgent happening at 3:55 which needs covering or you getting back early to be 'on' at 6.

Thanks @Findahouse21 if I didn't have to work evenings I would do school hours only (my dc are all school age). But this job has a mandatory evening a week which b/c of covid is 2 per week. Otherwise I'd happily work school hours only and in the future that is my hope. Just won't happen likely for another couple of years.

Day 3 you will need a 20 minute break to comply with working time regulations. You also need a minimum 11 hours break between 1 day and the next, and 9.30 - 8 is only 10.5 hours.
