Apple pie with use by date yesterday

I bought two little apple pies from morrisons on Saturday but just noticed the use by date is yesterday :( they've been in the fridge and I really want to eat one but don't want to upset my stomach. If the date was best before I wouldn't have thought twice about it but if its use by is that a no no? I have clotted cream to go with it too. Would you just eat it?

Definitely I'd eat it. It's fruit! Not meat... you'll be fine!

Didn't mean to enable voting sorry.

Wouldn't think twice, would eat it no problem!

VestaTilley · 14/12/2020 20:15

Just eat it OP! It’ll be fine. It won’t have gone off, and it doesn’t contain meat so it’s not going to give you food poisoning Hmm

Thank you for the super quick response! Putting the oven on now! 😁

Don’t you ever wonder about how people managed to survive before food had dates printed on it ? If it looks ok and smells ok eat it , if it doesn’t then don’t eat it . Something doesn’t magically go off because the clock strikes one minute past midnight .

MrsJBaptiste · 14/12/2020 20:17

I actually thought this must be a joke thread! I hope you're eating it as we speak. If it looks ok and smells ok then it's ok to eat 👍

I’m emetophobic and very conscious about dates on meats and deli things but I would defo eat an apple pie one day over, just make sure it’s piping hot all the way through. I bet it’ll be delicious

ApplePie86 · 14/12/2020 20:19

Eat it!! My username alone gives me the authority to insist you do just that!

Unless it’s riddled with mould, which I expect it isn’t, I’d definitely eat it.

Gunpowder · 14/12/2020 20:23

I’d eat it too!

MrTumblesSpottyHag · 14/12/2020 20:25

Apple pie smells cheesy when it goes off. I know this because MIL sent one home with DH and he forgot about it for a few days. Trust me, you'll know before you put it in your mouth 🤮

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 14/12/2020 20:31

Unless it's one of those new apple pies, with a brain, then it wont even know its a day out of date!

Littlepaws18 · 14/12/2020 20:32

Use your nose and yours eyes. If it's off you would know. Sell by dares should be ignored for everything except dairy and meat.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/12/2020 20:34

Don't eat it. Send it too me, I'll check it won't poison you.
