Mole next to nipple

Butterflykiss00 · 12/12/2020 21:38

I've noticed a mole on my nipple of some sort, picture isn't the best. It's light brown with dark brown spots around it, and next to it is a skin tag growing. It's Tiny though, so I'm unsure wether to see a doctor about it.
Does anyone have any experiences or advice on what I should do ?
Thankyou for any help

I’ve got lots like this. They have all been fine but I’d go and get it checked by Gp. Are you generally moley-I’m covered in them.

Butterflykiss00 · 12/12/2020 21:42

Not really I have about 4/5moles freckles, it's just so small I don't know if I should bother

I’d get it looked at for reassurance. Take a photo with a ruler next to it just now as well so you can monitor its size and shape.

PurpleFlower1983 · 12/12/2020 21:53

I would get it checked out.

Butterflykiss00 · 12/12/2020 21:54

I might do, does it look worrying though 🤦🏼‍♀️

Needs to be seen by gp and possibly referred to dermatology.

BlodwynBludd · 12/12/2020 21:58

Photo of it with something to measure and make an appointment with your GP because it's an irregular shape and multi coloured. Better safe than sorry

ScottishStottie · 12/12/2020 22:00

Its hard to really tell by the photos.

I was referred to dermatology with mole growth recently, she looked at it with a microscope and gel thingy to get a proper detailed look at the edges before declaring it fine.

Have you always had this mole? If not, in what time scale has it appeared?

Also hiw old are you? Dermatologist told me that up until 40/50, its still fairly normal to 'grow' new moles that are perfectly healthy.

Go to GP. Mine turned out to be no issues at all but gp, and hospital were both happy amd glad to see me and rule out issues

Haggisfish · 12/12/2020 22:03

I got loads more moles after pregnancy.

Haggisfish · 12/12/2020 22:03

No I don’t think it looks worrying but it does have some features which need checking out like irregular edges.

callistography · 12/12/2020 22:05

That looks like it could be a sebhorreic keratosis, which are usually harmless. I'd get it checked out to be careful

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 12/12/2020 22:07

Get it checked but don't worry yourself about it.

I've had some right nasty looking buggers (black, irregular, raised etc etc) that when looked at by dermatologist and/or biopsied were completely harmless.

TreaterAnita · 12/12/2020 22:10

Hi OP

Not a doctor, but personally I’d get that checked out just to be on the safe side as new moles are often nothing to worry about, but that one is irregularly shaped and coloured which might be more cause for concern. It’s good that it’s very small though, and unless you’ve done a lot of topless sunbathing, I’d say it’s position makes it less likely to be a melanoma.

RolandSchitt · 12/12/2020 22:14

Has it been there for a long time? I have one on my areola, it's always been there though, so I don't have any concerns about it. If it's new, itches or has changed I would have it checked.

Takeoutyourhen · 12/12/2020 22:21

Worthwhile going to the GP, they can send photos to dermatology who will refer you for a good look.

1FootInTheRave · 12/12/2020 22:24

Melanoma doesn't just appear on sun exposed areas.

pucelleauxblanchesmains · 12/12/2020 22:51

If it's new and growing I'd get it checked, but I had a really horrific one that was completely fine when they biopsied it so also don't jump to assume it's cancer, just best to see a GP so they can rule it out or refer you as necessary.

pucelleauxblanchesmains · 12/12/2020 22:53

I'm covered in all kinds of moles though (thanks, Irish genes!)

IslaMann · 13/12/2020 07:44

Plastic surgery nurse here. Def get it checked out. If it turns out to be a melanoma then the earlier it's removed the better.
Any new moles should be checked out. You'll get a 2 week wait appointment so don't panic, it's policy in cases of suspected skin cancer.

Butterflykiss00 · 13/12/2020 20:52

I'm swaying to seeing the doctor I think, hopefully he doesn't think I'm stupid and laugh 😂
