To get a different toy than letter to Santa

DD just turned 3 and did her first letter to Santa this year (about 2 weeks ago) she asked for a “big princess castle”.
I’ve asked her loads of times since what she asked Santa for and she just says “I don’t know!” So AIBU to get her something else from Santa instead? Feel awful but if she doesn’t remember I’d rather her getting something different than a castle! She already has a fisher price frozen castle from last year

It sounds fine to me.

I usually gaslight my children in to thinking they asked for whatever it is I actually want to get them... 😳

I say that the letter to Santa just gives him ideas of what she would like. But Santa is magic and knows her so well that he gets presents that aren't on the list but that he knows she will like. Santa surprises.
