1st period after baby

I'm 8 weeks postpartum ( c section) and have started my period. Is it normal for it to be really really heavy with loads of clots? I'm having to change maternity pads every 2 hours. Also, I have a really bad pain in my left groin/hip that started few hours after the bleeding. Is this normal?

I’m freaking out.

I can’t say anything for c section, but the first post partum period is an absolute beast in my experience! It’s been building up for months. Flowers

Not had a c section and my periods didn't return for months and months (breastfeeding) but they were worse than usual when they did arrive. However, I would say it might be worth you trying to speak to your GP or HV as 8 weeks and so heavy doesn't sound quite right.

My first period was the same as before getting pregnant, but then they've always been heavy anyway. I'd check with your GP.

I think if it’s so heavy that you’re going through pads that frequently, especially if this is not how they were pre-baby, I warrants a check up.

Although it’s unlikely that any placenta was left behind after a c-section it is not impossible and retained products can quickly become serious. Far better to be checked just to be safe.

Thank you girls, have a phone all with gp at half 3. HV Said it could be an infection cause ohh the amount of bleeding on top of period and the pain xx

I realise checking back I misread how long it’s been since birth - I don’t know how I got months! Good call on the GP, hope it went well!

My first PP period was AWFUL. It felt like early labour pains and the blood. God the blood. They eased up after that first one. It was a shocker though.
