Anyone able to find a flat on universal credit?

Hi,

I lost my flat just after first lockdown. Guy decided to sell off house and move back home (across Europe) so we’ve been crashing with my mum. Four adults and my baby in a 2 bed house.

Council have no houses. Option is to leave my partner (living at my mums?) and go stay in a hostel with my child 40 minute drive from here (I don’t drive) so it’s out of the question. His parents just bought a smaller house as we lost ours so no help there.

Been searching for ages, can pay deposit and first months rent but everyone keeps turning us down and the only reason I know of is because of our income. Even houses going back on market due to not going through with it we aren’t allowed to re apply?

Has anyone got around this? I can’t live here anymore. My partner is self employed and just invested a lot into his business. Even if he went and got a full time job it’s not enough for a 2 bed rent. I’m really at a loss here. I’m not due to go back to work for 2 months but my daughter is exclusively breastfeeding. I’ve been trying to get her onto a bottle for over a month now and she just won’t so I physically can’t leave her.

Any guidance?

Has anyone paid 6 months upfront and universal pay it back? We could borrow from my partners dad but I need the money back?

Thanks
