... not to be able to contact DVLA?!!

Anyone else struggling to contact the DVLA??
I’ve got a complicated question about a possibly duplicated and wrongly addressed vehicle registration document and have been trying to call them for two days on the 0300 number. It just cuts out, either immediately or after you’ve put in your option, saying that call volume is too high, call again later. Has anyone else had this problem? Did you manage to get through in the end? Is there an alternative number to try? I’m getting a bit desperate as I’m worried about a potential ticket/fine going astray.

I can't get them either. I get through to where I'm trying to get to then they say there's a high call volume and my query can be answered online. It can't, or I would have done it online.

No idea for an alternate number though.

Have you tried all the numbers?

I had to contact them about something in lockdown- mum health issues and SORN etc

Took about 3 days of trying at different times.

I think in the end it was one of the less obvious tel numbers that got answered.

AcornAutumn · 07/12/2020 13:28

What number are you using, if you look up Dvla 0300, you will see three.

Redlocks28 · 07/12/2020 13:30

I spoke to them last week via the live chat. There was a few questions with a random bot thing but then someone real pretty soon came on and answered my query.

That sounds as if it may be promising, thank you - if I can find an alternative number! I will have another look online though I had looked already Anyone with any insider knowledge of alternative numbers?! @Bandia I feel your pain...

@AcornAutumn crossed post. Have been trying the DVLA contact page for Vehicle Enquiries. The number is 0300 790 6802.
@Redlocks28 interesting about the live chat, thank you. I hadn’t thought that was worth trying but I will give it a go (once I’ve looked for the alternative numbers!).
Am feeling a bit better now, even though I haven’t actually managed to get through. Thanks everyone Smile

Got through Thursday at 9.09 after maybe 10 minutes

Now that is encouraging, thank you! I’m at work which makes it hard to keep trying relentlessly, which is probably what is required...

Just email them as a fail-safe?

kwiksavenofrillsusername · 07/12/2020 13:50

I tried a few months ago and it was very frustrating. I went old school in the end and sent them a letter outlining the problem and sent the relvant documents. They actually replied pretty quickly.

Hellomoonstar · 07/12/2020 16:41

The medical team are good at answering at 10am is all I know. After I renewed my driving license and got someone else name and photo instead of my own. They sorted it after few phone calls spanning weeks.

Sunnysausage · 08/12/2020 02:13

Thanks everyone - haven’t managed to get through to a human being yet but I did the live chat which answered at least some of my questions! Will keep going tomorrow but at least I feel I’ve made some progress (and yes, I have emailed as well!). I haven’t written yet. Have to keep something in reserve Wink.
I don’t really know what is going so wrong with their staffing. Why can’t they can’t have their usual people working from home like Thames Water for eg? I spoke to a lovely woman from there the other day who told me she was speaking from her son’s bedroom!
