Saffron Drewitt-Barlow was the only daughter born by surrogacy to Tony and Barry Drewitt Barlow until recently when Barry had a daughter (Valentina) by surrogacy with his new boyfriend Scott, Saffron's ex. Keeping up?

Saffron will have her eggs extracted so her Dad and his boyfriend, her ex, will go for another surrogate pregnancy - though she hasn't offered to carry the baby, the baby would be hers and presumably Scott's as having her egg mix will her Dad's sperm would be....wrong on many levels.

Barry and his ex Tony have a big family and Scott joined sometime after I think Tony was diagnosed with cancer. They all live together in Florida. Saffron and her twin brother Aspen have apparently never been told who their biological father is so is could be Tony is the biological grandfather of any baby born from Saffron's eggs.

The family dynamics are simple bizarre to me and this is a tiny bit 'incestuous' AIBU?

I worry that Saffron is doing this to remain in her father's favour since he has been devoted to the new daughter and it's to maintain a connection to her ex who she might still be in love with despite the fact that he's in relationship with her Dad.

Saffron has a boyfriend - and I wonder what he makes of it too, I hope she doesn't feel forced into this.

For me this has so many issues with it I just don't know where to start! I don't think this would be allowed due to the genetic closeness as you said. It's also weird in my opinion. A bit too EastEnders for my liking and also gives me the opinion that the world is continuing to turn upside down. The day your dad starts dating your ex, has one baby with him then wants you his daughter to supply an egg for his sperm is a day I would not ever want to see. I can see a lot of counseling being needed in The future!

The article actually sounds like the Dad and his partner (her ex) don’t actually want her eggs. She says “Daddy doesn’t like the idea too much” but that she’s frozen some eggs so they “just have to say the word”. So it’s a bit of a non-story (aside down their already usual family set up), the actual egg donation bit from her isn’t actually happening? The “new story” is that she’s willing to donate eggs, but they don’t want them 🤷‍♀️

To be fair I didn't read the article. Just went from the information in the OP. Still think it's a bit messed up and the daughter clearly has unresolved issues to even consider it!

Also she might then try to be the mother to the child with her ex's sperm.... I can see a big court battle if it does happen

I suspect Saffron has already frozen eggs for her own use as she has previously said she will use surrogacy to have children as she doesn't fancy pregnancy and childbirth. A bit too ick for her, so pay another woman to do it.

So I guess if the eggs are sitting there already she thought it would be nice to offer them for the next round of exploiting paying a woman to be a breeder.

They should just import a few desperate women from poorer parts to live at the house and be the resident brood mares, they could probably get them to do a bit of cleaning in between.

I haven’t read the article but from the OP it sounds like sensationalist garbage. If it’s true then they’re all fucked in the head. If not then I suppose they’re enjoying their fame off the back of being DM fodder.

Barry is a truly reprehensible person. But I think it's a sort of mental illness, possibly rooted in childhood homophobic bullying. Proving that he is an alpha male the only way he can - by impregnating as many women as possible. As well as the numerous surrogate children he has also had a busy career as a sperm donor although God knows why anyone would want a child with his DNA.

Though if Saffron goes ahead and they use her eggs and a baby is born from another surrogate mother, Saffron will see her biological child grow up and the child would know their mother/sister. How this all computes to them is anyone's guess.

I find it really shocking to know that due to their involvement with surrogacy the original couple were invited to participate in the law commission consultation on surrogacy reform. I don't think they were too discerning on who they thought should contribute to the writing of the paper.

This makes such sad reading. She seems like little rich girl lost. Her ex boyfriend decided to go for her dad, probably because he had more money. Her dad is chasing around acting (and dressing) like hes 25 again. But she doesnt seem over the ex (just look at the pics) Her other father is dying, but appears to be getting divorce requests off dad one. Shes clearly had money stuck into her face, the poor lass is a kid and has clearly had ill advised lip fillers etc, when she could be naturally pretty, and now shes been replaced as daddy princess by a new baby. Her dad even said that shes now his ‘queen’. Theres some wonder she just wants to be part of something, even if it means donating her own eggs. Like they always say, money doesn’t buy a happy life

I always thought they were uncomfortably different. They had so much money. A friend of mine was interviewed to be their Nanny when they had the first twins - she confided in me that she’d not have taken the job no matter what.

I remember watching a documentary years ago about this family when Saffron and Aspden were born ,,the family has become increasingly fucked up and attention seeking in the intervening years.

God I remember this family from a documentary years ago! Their dads were the first two fathers to be put on a birth certificate.

I’m sure there were two younger siblings as well who cannot have been older than 18 now.

They seemed normal back then, what an odd turn of events. That poor girl is being exploited.
