Movember. What about a female version

I'm just looking at a load of photos of men from work who've grown moustaches to raise awareness for prostate and testicular cancer and wondered if we could come up with something similarly positive for women.

AIBU to suggest growing pubic hair? Neat trimming/shaping allowed of course (like the moustaches). Suggestions welcome for what you'd call it (Fuzzy February/Mufty March?); and which charity/cause it would be to support. Sadly I doubt photos on the work intranet would be appropriate thoughGrin

My personal view on which no doubt half of Mumsnet will say IABU, we could revert to the normal of a generation ago when virtually no-one got rid of their pubic hair, if we'd thought about it at all (which we didn't) it would have been thought very odd, and men weren't afraid of it.

Fanuary ?

araiwa · 01/12/2020 12:11

Doing something that generally nobody else can see isn't really going to raise awareness

PhlegmyHead · 01/12/2020 12:11

It's a lot less appropriate to talk about your pubic hair than your facial hair.
You said yourself "I'm just looking at a load of photos of men from work who've grown moustaches" - so the equivalent would be looking at a load of genitalia?

Not only was this genius, it was the first response, so the timing for my internal reading voice couldn't have been better. I now remain, as ever, your most obedient servant. I'm properly laughing.

Fantastic. Simply fantastic.
Sirzy · 01/12/2020 12:16

I think going around showing people your progress would generally be frowned upon!

Backbee · 01/12/2020 12:16

Fanuary has been a thing in some circles for a while, but I believe rather than raising sponsorship, some salons donated a proposition of their income from waxes etc to female cancer charities.

Ethelfleda · 01/12/2020 12:17

The first response to your thread was so perfect and well executed, it renders any other responses redundant.

LadyCatStark · 01/12/2020 12:17

Isn’t lack of female hair removal just called “winter”? 😂

WitchesSpelleas · 01/12/2020 12:19

It seems to be more the norm for men to cultivate their facial hair than not these days so 'Movember' has lost any point it may once have had.

Personally I'd rather just give to charity than have to hear people boring on about what they've done with their pubes.

Misopasta · 01/12/2020 12:22

I look forward to those work emails.

Wovember. I might draw on a different moustache every day next year.

jcurve · 01/12/2020 12:28

Australia has Frocktober in October for ovarian cancer research. Wear a dress every day for a month.

Not sure advertising you’re not trimming your muff would go down well in the workplace!

You're just being sexist. Who is suggesting I can't grow a perfectly good moustache if I put my mind to it?

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 01/12/2020 15:36

How about pits or legs? Those would get past the social media photos police.

Pitember.

Love this. Goodness, I wasn't being serious folks! But some of those suggestions are great.
