And that lots of work is unecessary padding ( looking at you paperwork).
I bet people thought that the advent of AI and household appliances would lead to more leisure time. Not so...it has just created more work.
Take my course for example. I am now on a placement...i am out 7am till 7pm.knackered when i get in and yet uni wanted a presentation in 3 days after the placement that is worth as much as my dissertation!! Why? Luckily that deadline has been extended by 2 weeks but only coz of covid and Christmas will be spent swatting.
In my former job as a teacher nowhere had organised lesson plans.. we spent all our evenings planning lessons. Could the school not provide lesson plans with a few options for differentiation.
I wouldn't mind all this if i was rewarded with secure contracts and a decent living wage but teaching was mostly zero hour and I am training for free.
Thr joke is at uni we had a lecture onmental health...was not helpful..i can give thema simple solution...dont dumb down the course but do spread yout deadlines out.
All this is better than the hard physical graft of our ancestors but its a shame i cannot afford to be a sahm.
