Diet coke tastes like its got vodka in?

Wishful thinking possibly but i had one earlier and it tasted exactly like voddy and coke.Anyone else think this?

This is exactly what I think but no one’s ever agreed with me before!!!

orangenasturtium · 28/11/2020 15:05

Maybe it's because bars, pubs, clubs and McDonalds all use syrup and carbonated water to make their drinks that are on tap. They don't taste quite the same as premade drinks. Perhaps you associate that taste with vodka and coke, and it's the difference in taste that you are noticing rather than "tasting" vodka?

Meepmeeep · 28/11/2020 15:10

Not at all. I love a Diet Coke with my McDonald’s but vodka and coke makes me sick. Can drink vodka with others mixers just not coke - it really does make me boke.

HappyDaze90 · 28/11/2020 15:12

I’ve always thought this.

I just thought I’d spent so many years at Uni drinking the cheap double vodkas and diet coke that I was just accustomed to diet coke now tasting like vodka 😂

Edel2019 · 28/11/2020 15:13

Omg. I've always thought this, but never articulated it to anyone!!!!!

kwiksavenofrillsusername · 28/11/2020 15:14

It does taste like the sort of watery diet coke they serve in pubs. Their coke zero is better.

I might go to McDonald's more if they start offering booze, like in some European countries.

Definitely this!

This is correct. It doesn’t taste like it’s got vodka in it is the mixer you’re tasting.
Callipygion · 28/11/2020 15:20

Never mind the coke, are they doing the festive mince pies this year?!

Nottherealslimshady · 28/11/2020 15:22

I think you need to start making stronger drinks! Grin

Chocolatethief · 28/11/2020 15:24

I agree and I cant stand it

Wyntersdiary · 28/11/2020 15:52

Yes! I don't really like mcdonalds diet coke because i hate vodka! and that's exactly what it tastes like, a watered down vodka and coke :D

DildoAndAKneeAss · 28/11/2020 15:54

That's exactly what my DD said.

nosswith · 28/11/2020 15:55

Having diet drinks in a fast food place seems to be almost as if you want to be reducing your calorie intake but are in denial.

GrandTheftWalrus · 28/11/2020 15:59

@nosswith my dh has diet drinks as he's diabetic. Nothing to do with calories.

I don't like diet coke from a machine as I think it tastes like disinfectant. If I'm having vodka and diet coke when out I get a can to put into my drinks.

I only like diet coke from bottle or cans

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 28/11/2020 16:02

I've only ever had milkshakes from McDonald's but I do think that certain cherry cokes from coca Cola taste a bit like a run and coke.

Same with tesco cherry coke. If you're lucky enough to get a bottle with a bit extra cherry flavour in its like a rum 🤤

Nymeriastark1 · 28/11/2020 16:15

All diet cokes taste like they've got vodka in, actually most diet fizzy drinks do. I'm glad I'm so not the only one that thinks this!

BasinHaircut · 28/11/2020 16:18

Yes it tastes like the dregs with melted ice that are left at the end of a vodka and coke.

Same.

Hate vodka and coke.

Or maybe because you genuinely don’t like full fat drinks. If I’m going to McDonald’s, I’m indulging and really couldn’t give a flying fuck for saving calories by having a diet drink - full fat coke is awful that’s why I don’t drink it.
AriesTheRam · 28/11/2020 16:38

And also why are the drinks never fizzy

OP posts:
Ellmau · 28/11/2020 16:51

It's the machine again. I never drink DC anywhere it's on draught, bc it's WRONG - flavour and flat.

BasinHaircut · 28/11/2020 17:04

@nosswith I cannot stand full sugar fizzy drinks. They do not quench my thirst and leave a horrible sugary film in my mouth.

I have a Diet Coke but do order and extra burger Grin

How do you figure that when it actually does reduce your calorie intake Hmm
Gooseybby · 28/11/2020 17:09

Full sugar pop is like drinking syrup - not thirst quenching at all
