Why is everyone no longer understanding but expect it back?

I see so much online where people describe a situation and only recall how they felt and how they were affected. Does no-one play their own devils advocate or think how the other might feel?

Are we gone from seek first to understand then be understood? It’s so sad when you can’t communicate how you feel without the other getting defensive and retorting back so you don’t even bother yet I’m sure that person wants your full understanding when they’re in a situation different to yours.

Can we all be a little kinder to the first world problems we face and try and think there might not actually be any menace in what someone has done yet if you do feel a certain way, have the courage to say it to that person without the anger and hate?

Are you talking about a specific situation here ?
If not you have a very complicated way of thinking about things.

I think we've all been under a lot of stress this year and it is wearing people down. Ime adversity only brings out the best in exceptional people.

I think you’re right. It’s sad that people attack without knowing the full story and don’t understand why someone would do what they did. They just care how it would affect them.

No specific story, just see a lot of it at work, personal life and online. It’s sad

I'm seeing this a lot at work atm with the mental health fall out of covid. Undoubtedly, many people are struggling, but they don't seem to be able to understand that others are struggling too.
