Track and trace...bit bloody slow!

DH has tested positive. He was not symptomatic but had the test after the ZOE symptom study asked him to.

Got his positive result at 8.30am. Obviously he told me straight away. Good job he did, as despite me spending the weekend and the last two evenings and nights with him, the NHS app has yet to identify that we might have been in close contact.

Does it actually work?

Has he input his info and code into the app?

dementedpixie · 25/11/2020 14:19

P.s. Test and Trace is separate from the app and are not the same thing. You need to give the app the info, its not input by T&T

@dementedpixie

Has he input his info and code into the app?
I asked a friend that and he looked at me blankly!
dementedpixie · 25/11/2020 14:22

Do they think it magically knows they have tested positive?

MythsandSparkles · 25/11/2020 14:24

The app is separate to test and trace - he should have had an email/text with a link from test and trace asking him to fill in details of where he’s been and who he has seen.

In my experience once that data is loaded it’s pretty instantaneous that people get texts or emails to isolate as they’ve had contact with a positive case.

It’s only as good as the data that’s loaded into it though - if your DH hasn’t updated the app with his positive result or filled in the details from the test and trace link then they can’t tell you anything.

Has he filled in either of these?

BashfulClam · 25/11/2020 15:50

This is weird as in Scotland the tracing is done by the nhs and the data of anyone positive is sent to the tracing team by the health board.

dementedpixie · 25/11/2020 15:58

The same happens in England. The app in Scotland is also separate to our test and protect system and you also need to tell our app if you are positive in order for other app users to get alerted. You are given a code to put in the app and then other app users are checked to see if they are a contact

Yes, he had put it all into the app. It finally notified me about half an hour ago.

But it's world class?

Hope you are all OK, OP and your family.

PragmaticWench · 25/11/2020 16:08

Not the app but Test and Trace took over sixty hours to phone us when DD tested positive, to say we needed to tell anyone we'd been in contact with. Utterly useless service.
