I've lost 2 beloved pets this year.My cat we had since the docs were small and was great company when I got home late from work and my family were in bed.She died in april.
Then yesterday one of our pair of rabbits. All summer they had the run of the garden and have us over 6 yrs of happiness.I loved to see them hoping on the grass and eating it too.The female is lost now and my heart breaks for her.😢
This made me wonder what do your pets bring to your life?

So much. My (currently widowed) parrot is the bestest boi in all the world, despite - or perhaps because of - all the screaming, the feathers, the poop and the chewing of anything that can't run away from him.

I knew I loved him but only during Covid, locked in the house all the time, did I realise how much. He is my true north.

Sorry for your loss, OP. Flowers

When I’m upset and my little cat comes and stands with his paws on my chest and licks my face and then curls up on my lap and the heavy purring weight of him seeps into my bones, it really makes everything feel ok again.

Beamur · 24/11/2020 11:12

Every day they make me smile or laugh. They are very loving back too. Pets make me happy.

Svelteinmydreams · 24/11/2020 11:14

My male lab is just the sweetest boy; likes his cuddles, reads my moods, very empathetic. My female is such a girl - all flounces and sashays. They take me out several times every day; we invariably meet someone to chat to & I love how they wait to be introduced, then give whomever we met the fully wiggly greetings.
They adore each other and watching them play is one of my favourite things.

Pinkyandthebrainz · 24/11/2020 11:14

So sorry OP. Ddog is very cuddly and affectionate. She is great company. She pulls hilarious expressions, is quite sassy in her personality and makes me laugh everyday. She also gets me out of the house on lovely walks which we both get a lot of joy from.

Svelteinmydreams · 24/11/2020 11:15

And so sorry OP that you’ve said goodbye to your two this year.

Nottherealslimshady · 24/11/2020 11:19

She's such a dopey, clingy baby that really really tries to be a good girl but has zero self control.

I was thinking I was needy by loving them so much.We loved them before lockdown and they made lockdown more bearable.Such great company.Cats purring is the best thing.Mine used to walk up to the top of our road and follow my husband to the door when she heard the car.
I will get another one for sure.😻

So sorry for your loss OP. Mine are an absolutely joy. My whole family agree. Our home would be boring without them. My 2 cats say good morning and good night to us every day. They greet me from work with hugs. They sense when my son is going to bed and both run and jump on his bed for a last hug before they go to sleep on the sofa. Every night for years they have done that.

Clarich007 · 24/11/2020 11:23

Absolutely no joy whatsoever, just constant mess, problems lashing out, scratching and biting, I'm sorry to say 😭

whatisforteamum · 24/11/2020 11:23

Not the realslimshady that is an adorable dog.

Aw I’m sorry for your losses. I love my cat so much, she is just so cute and affectionate and hilarious. Just her sitting next to me purring away makes me feel so calm.

sapnupuas · 24/11/2020 11:29

When I go to bed, I check on my son. If my dog doesn't come with me, she will sit outside his door until I open it so she can do her checks.

When we walk, she will keep looking back to make sure everyone is still there, and if someone (usually my mum) falls behind, my dog will stop and refuse to move until everyone has caught up.

I'm sorry for you loss, OP. We lost our cat in September. 21 years young.

MuckleMadMoose · 24/11/2020 11:30

I'm so sorry for your loss. That's heartbreaking 😔

We have a black cat who stole my heart the minute we brought her home. She is so sweet and affectionate. I'm due my 3rd baby next month and she's been sticking by my side and making sure I'm OK. My favourite thing is when she comes for cuddles about 4am/5am and falls asleep lying on me. The loud purrs are the best. ♥️

madcatladyforever · 24/11/2020 11:31

I'm so sorry OP. My cat is 19 and has kidney failure and she is everything to me, I'm divorced and live alone. I'm dreading the day she goes.

figgypudding24 · 24/11/2020 12:07

I'm so sorry OP. I'm dreading when I lose my DDog . She always manages to cheer me up, she's not that cuddly and likes her own space/very independent but she's always happy to see me and when I feel down or unwell she is gentle and sweet and seems to want to comfort me. Just watching her have fun and playing or enjoying something gives me a sense of happiness and peace no matter how I was feeling before. It's a very special bond.

Olivetree615 · 24/11/2020 12:11

I'm so sorry OP, best wishes to you!!

I have my ferret, Theodore

FrankieDoyle · 24/11/2020 12:13

My cat is my baby. I never knew it was possible to love an animal so much.
I love her so much, she is the sweetest, most loving affectionate little person.

PrincessNutNut · 24/11/2020 12:15

I'm sorry to hear about your pets. Mine love me unconditionally, they keep me warm, they're a link with nature, they remind me of the sanctity of life in all forms, the beauty and variety of creation and they mean that at least one thing will go right every single day.

CatRed200 · 24/11/2020 12:20

I had the most wonderful cat. She came everywhere with me- literally. I used to work abroad - between offices in 2 countries - and I would take her with me by car or plane. She was my carry-on luggage! She was my darling. When i returned to the UK she was hit by a car a few years later and died. That was 10 years ago and I think I will never get over it.

I have cats and dogs now also and love being with them. One of our cats has just started spending alot of time with my eldest who is very emotionally troubled right now and he can really only fall to sleep if she is with him. She is not very sociable and avoided him for years but lately she spends every night curled up on his pillow next to him.

One of my other dogs also comes to the ebach with me. It is wonderful to see her potter along (she is 17) and see the pleasure she gets from looking at things.

GiraffeNecked · 24/11/2020 12:20

We have a 11 year old grumpy cat who was a source of conversation - purring - and beauty.

The one year old puppy - has just stolen our hearts completely. She's so absolutely in the moment. So overjoyed to see her people. Makes us go on glen walks on days we'd otherwise stay in. Leaps in and out of the water.

Collapses snoring gently at home.

Her excitement at a new treat is infectious. Her organising and reorganising of her buried chewed sticks in the garden and the pots makes me smile.

She's a distraction, a warm snuffling, snoring little body - so bright and so empathetic.

CSIblonde · 24/11/2020 12:23

So much. My cat legging it towards me as fast as her little legs will carry her every time I come home. The wanting snuggles before every nap. And the rolling around the floor kangaroo kicking her toys. She's just great company.

Thecathouse · 24/11/2020 12:27

My dogs are the best PTSD and anxiety relievers (two very big dogs) they make me feel safe in the house, keep my toddler busy, and give me the confidence and push to walk them outside, as well as cuddling up to me when I am struggling

My reptiles / smaller animals / inverts give me educational chances with my toddler, hold her interest, and are calming just to sit with and hold or care for

I believe animal human relationships of all shapes and sizes are good for the soul

Toilenstripes · 24/11/2020 12:47

My sweet cat loves to run and play, skidding around on the wood floor. And she sleeps on me, which is such a comfortable feeling.

Peace43 · 24/11/2020 12:56

How could he not bring me joy? He love love loves me! He makes me take walks. He sleeps against my leg at night. He is also a right pain in the arse on occasion!!
