Plenty kitchen roll Christmas advert AIBU

Has anyone seen this. I think it's supposed to represent the gritty realism of cleaning up at Christmas , or something equally as grim.

It's a series of family members cleaning Christmas day incidents with kitchen roll. I'm sure it starts with a lady pulling some tinsel out of a cat's arse.

Either way it makes me do a little gip in my mouth everytime.

I’m not particularly squeamish but that a a little too much.

GreyishDays · 22/11/2020 16:22

Yeah. That’s awful. And kind of feel like the bloke is just having a terrible time.

Floralnomad · 22/11/2020 16:22

YANBU , it’s disgusting .

Cherrypie32 · 22/11/2020 20:42

Was half watching when it came on but had to ask my son if she’d actually just wiped a cat’s bum?

Jamiefraserskilt · 23/11/2020 00:17

Just a little bit over the line.
I couldn't see what the old dear was doing, looks like she is wiping the cats bum. With that, the vomit etc. Nope, not for me.

Holothane · 23/11/2020 00:18

I think it’s hideous not funny.

SallySolardel · 23/11/2020 00:45

I hate it

Tisgrand · 23/11/2020 01:06

It's awful but I suspect that our reaction is exactly what they want. No such thing as bad publicity n all that...

BluePeterVag · 23/11/2020 01:50

I turned over just in time to see what I thought was a woman pulling an item wrapped with kitchen roll from the cats bum. Revolting advert and I shall make my displeasure known by not buying their product for a while. They won’t notice or give a toss, and I might forget once it comes on offer but for now I’m huffed off enough to take a one MNetter stand!

PapercraftNinja · 23/11/2020 01:54

It is too much!

BarbaraofSeville · 23/11/2020 07:29

I agree that it's a horrible advert and yes, the first one does look like they're pulling tinsel out of the cats arse. It doesn't need durable kitchen roll, it needs the vet ffs.

I don't care that it gets people talking, it wouldn't make me buy their kitchen roll because I'm quite happy with a cloth or the cheap stuff with or without their offputting advert.

BarbaraofSeville · 23/11/2020 07:30

Oh, and when I watched the advert last night, I immediately knew there would be a MN thread about it.

BradleyCooperwillbemine · 23/11/2020 07:47

We laughed out loud, though I did have to check with husband what I had actually seen wrt the cat!!! Best xmas ad so far.

AuntieDolly · 23/11/2020 07:56

I thought it was a bit depressing.

Lunaballoon · 23/11/2020 08:01

I’m sick of all the Christmas adverts already. The Plenty one is awful.

MrsEricBana · 23/11/2020 08:11

Yes, depressing, revolting and would actively put me off buying their product. It's not clever or funny. You can convey "Hey, this stuff is great for cleaning" without making people feel sick e.g. the Flash ad with the singing dog.

Bloodylovecheese · 23/11/2020 08:13

Saw it last night.....a bit too far for my liking. Just grim.

mogtheexcellent · 23/11/2020 08:37

I love it. Made me laugh for the first time in days.Grin
