All male leadership

I work in a secondary school which has a male head, three male deputies and one female deputy. The woman is leaving and the shortlist for her replacement is all male.

AIBU to think this just isn't in and is actually an embarrassment? They should go back to the drawing board and recruit differently so they find some good female candidates.

AIBU to think this?

I would like to see the best person get the job, whether they are male, female, white, orange, green, 65 or 25. I work in an extremely female dominated management team and we have tried to recruit more men but the women have been more suitable.

dintlikebirds I also want the best candidate to get the job. Something has gone wrong at an earlier stage here. There are many excellent women in teaching so why are we in this boat now? The answers to that are complex and long term.

When you look at the amount of men in primary teaching verses the ratio of men to women in primary leadership it's utterly depressing.

It's weird that being a good classroom teacher is the route to management although not unique to teaching.
Personally I'd rather set fire to my own hair than be a leader of anything, and there are a few glimmers of hope that people like me aren't always just seen as having no ambition.
Without knowing the full details it is hard to make a proper judgement on your workplace OP.

Not a school but its the same in my organisation. My entire reporting line is men. Its depressing. First line managers and below skews towards women as well.
