I had this done 2 hrs ago with contrast and for the last hour and a half I’ve got a banging headache, feeling really tired, and a heavy arm where cannula was inserted anyone else experienced this

I had one in May....awful feeling isn't it. Contrast going in was very painful, hot feeling going thru body...very strange. Hope you feel better soon

I’ve had contrast with CT a few times, but never any pain afterward - I guess it varies between people as a side affect.

TheComptonEffect · 17/11/2020 20:49

Drink loads of water to flush it through. If yout symptomsdon't improve in the next wee while I would contact NHS 24 and let them know you had a scan with contrast. You may have had a reaction to the contrast or you are struggling to get rid of it from your body.

TheComptonEffect · 17/11/2020 21:00

Actually do you have a phone no for the dept where contrast was given? Maybe give them a call and let them know if they are still open.

CambsAlways · 17/11/2020 21:06

Yes I have a phone number for the unit where I had it done : yes it’s a weird feeling lemonlady I was glad when it was over to be honest, when I went in to have it done I was in pain and felt sick but that’s normal for me as I’ve suffered with these issues and reflux continuously for 18 months, just praying for results to come back quickly so I know what I’m dealing with as at the moment I’m imagining everything,

If you’re still feeling the same in the morning (or now, if it’s so bad you can’t sleep) then call your GP for advice. I had one done recently, felt very tearful and wobbly afterwards so went back into clinic and found my blood pressure had got dangerously high. I hope you feel better soon.

CharlotteRose90 · 18/11/2020 00:43

Yeah it’s a reaction to the contrast 😩. I’ve had it loads and always feel the same. Drink loads of water to flush it out and try and get a good sleep.

BritWifeinUSA · 18/11/2020 02:44

I had the same CT scan recently. Drink lots of water over the 24 hours after the scan.

Hopefully you will get the results soon. I had mine in less than 2 days.

Hoping for a helpful and positive result from the scan OP. Contrast can be awful for some and fine for others. It's a horrid feeling isn't it. The headache I had after my last one was something else and felt very hot and unwell in myself. I called he clinic and they said it was normal and to call back if I developed a rash/swelling or breathing difficulties but otherwise it would pass. Definitely agree with others to ramp up the water and flush it out asap. Get well soon!

Misterectomy · 18/11/2020 07:47

They told me hot drinks would help to flush it out quicker. May be worth a try.

I think you’re best of starting your own thread @Snowangel93. This one is an old one and people won’t see your post.
