To go for a job in the current situation?

I’m currently not working, I had a career break due to health. Perfectly fine now.

Schools in my local area have got bubbles popping all over the place and so many year groups being sent home. Several schools have closed completely for a couple of weeks.

We have four DC, all primary age.

I’ve been invited for a job interview after applying to several, DH thinks I’m mad to do so. I will be returning to a role as a TA, if I’m successful the job is in a primary school in early years.

I’m still applying for others, it benefits our income if I work as then we have two incomes and I’m not relying on tax credits so much. DH thinks I’m putting myself and the children at risk because of the number of cases in schools and that I shouldn’t apply for any TA jobs until this settles. Which of course no-one has any idea when that will be!

Am I being unreasonable for applying for jobs and going for this interview, or any others ?

I think it's best to give yourself options. Make a final decision once an actual job offer has been made.

Some people find it a waste of time to apply for jobs and interview if you're not serious about getting the job, but it gives you practice and keeps you on your toes. You'll feel much more confident interviewing for a job you desperately want if you've had a bit of practice beforehand.

Take the interview. If you decide not to take it, no harm done.
