DH eating with mouth open

Is doing my head in. When kids are with us I can kind of remind everyone to eat with mouth closed and then he does it but we ate by ourselves last night and it was meant to be a sort of a romantic date meal but it ruined it. All I could hear was the smacking of his lips. Urgh. Aibu. It’s so disgusting

My 4 year old does this and I have to keep reminding her to close her mouth. Its so frustrating.

SnuggyBuggy · 15/11/2020 06:40

I think you need to be blunt

SomeoneInTheLaaaaaounge · 15/11/2020 06:57

This would drive me absolutely mental

ForTheLoveOfCatFood · 15/11/2020 06:58

Just tell him.. repeatedly I wouldn’t be able to ignore that

FippertyGibbett · 15/11/2020 07:00

Does he have anything wrong with his nose so that he can’t chew and breathe at the same time ?
If not, LTB !

mushycarrots · 15/11/2020 08:19

FlippertyGibbett - you’re right, I’ll do it after breakfast! Thanks 😊

But seriously, I think I might have to mention it to him.

Is this a new thing? Has he always done it and you've just noticed or he's eaten properly before? If new you could say 'why have you started eating like that??' He may not realise? I couldn't listen to that 😳

ForTheLoveOfCatFood · 15/11/2020 11:38

Why would you not mention it to him Confused

I assumed you had and he was still doing it

MissBaskinIfYoureNasty · 15/11/2020 11:41

Rank. I'd just refuse to eat with him until he can sort it out.

IhateBoswell · 15/11/2020 11:42

I’d be stabbing his hand with my fork every time he did it.

SameToo · 15/11/2020 11:45

I honestly couldn’t have married him. It’s a deal breaker for me.

OP, just ask him "are you enjoy that?" When he says yes, just say "so I can hear and I can see the food in your mouth too".

Should do the trick.
