to think that "Rolly herb cutter thingy" is a perfectly acceptable Google search?!

Google disagrees!

Just seen ep2 of James Mays new cooking show (on Amazon if anyone wants to see it) and he is using a little...thingy to cut herbs that looks like a bit like a wireless mouse but with a couple of round blades poking out of the bottom. You just roll it back and forth over the herbs, NOT one of those two handled things that dont work very well because as soon as the blade dulls, they are an arse to sharpen!

My father would LOVE one but does it have a particular name so I can find a good quality one? Anyone know?!

Like this? www.hartsofstur.com/chef-n-herbzoom-herb-mincer-102831404.html

Or maybe a decent rotary pizza cutter would do?

Have you looked on Amazon and included his name in the search?

WartyWorry · 14/11/2020 22:38

mrsbyers · 14/11/2020 22:39

Herb cutter or buy a mezzaluna which has more uses but does same thing

I’ve got the garlic version of the one posted above. You put the cloves in the top. Zoom it about and it comes out finely chopped. I do love it!

Although if it's as effective in real life as Jamie Oliver's maraca alternative to a pestle and mortar, you might be better off not tracking it down.

James May cant cook, and is sort of learning in this program and if he can make it work then it is perfect for my father. Daddy can cook but has bad arthritis that makes his knife skills on fine chopping a real problem, so this would be great for him.

I got one from Sainsburys. I used it once Blush now I just use scissors, much easier

MaggieFS · 14/11/2020 23:03

Sounds like what I would call a parsley cutter?

Onamugsearch · 14/11/2020 23:07

That James May programme is FAB it’s a very honest view and he’s funny to boot.

Move over Jamie/nigella/et al - he’s surprisingly interesting and they show his cock ups.

I also would like a choppy thing 😂

I had one of those, it was really useless! Grin
