I have struggled with weight my whole life (mum had me on a diet as long as I can remember) lots of comments about my weight. I have gained an lost over the years.

Major weight loss was 5 stone about 10 years ago. Kept most of it off despite 2 pregnancies (where I put on 4 stone each time Blush) I am constantly now a stone over where I want to be - I diet, lose a bit, plateau then give up. Rinse and repeat.

This week I have done 14000ish steps every day. Eaten under 1200 cals, usually 900 with 500 cals on Thursday. Husband has lost 6lb this week. I have put on half a pound. HOW! I’m trying not to cry this morning but I’m so sick of this being so very hard! It’s like it doesn’t work any more Sad. I’m just so fed up!

Have you had your Thyroid checked? I had the same problem a couple of years ago. I was doing weight training, 3 times a week, Les Mill Combay 3 times a week, eating 1400 calories a day (I'm 5ft 10) and putting on weight at a crazy speed. I paid for private blood tests and discovered I had Hashimoto's (Hypothyroidism) as well as rock bottom Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D. I got this sorted and now I can lose weight like a 'normal' person.

Also, I wouldn't base your success on one week. Continue with your efforts next week and see what happens there. Sometimes there is a lag. Also, make sure you are truly logging everything on somewhere like fitness pal. Good luck xx

How old are you, are you peri/menopause age ?

Suzi888 · 14/11/2020 08:00

Period?
So you only want to lose a stone? That’s the hardest weight to shift. 500 calories is very little, you may be sending your body into starvation mode, so it’s storing fat..
You sound like you’ve done so well, but you seem so down on yourself?
Don’t compare to a man! they’ll always shift the pounds easier than us!
Hopefully someone will be along soon with better advice!

thegreenlight, you can do this, stick with it, don't worry about what the scales tell you for a while, then weigh yourself again in a few weeks.

thegreenlight · 14/11/2020 08:11

I’m 37 - period due this week but it never used to make that much of a problem. I used to lose more on my period, not it causes a stand still for 2 weeks! I have PMD badly now too so I suppose things have changed in that department!

Thankyou for all the support - it means so much. I might do that, not weigh myself at all. I did a bootcamp for a month last summer 3x a week merciless torture in the gym with my calories monitored online. I lost NOTHING but felt like I had lost weight as my clothes felt much better. Maybe I’ve got to the age where weight loss is just harder.

I hear you OP and I’m struggling with the same. I’ve lost just over two stones, I need to lose another one but it isn’t budging no matter what I do.

I am you 10 years older. Almost to a tee.

I was looking at my fitness pal the other day and I've put on just under 2 stone in 2 years BUT I'm still over 3 stone lighter than I was at my heaviest. I'd like to lose a stone too but I am peri menopausal and I do have a dodgy thyroid.

My husband has lost 2 stone just by cutting out coke and biscuits. I get very frustrated by him saying 'well just go for a run'

I know I can lose weight because over the summer I tried cutting out gluten/dairy for my autoimmune condition and lost half a stone without trying. Do you know why? Because it was fucking miserable. As soon as I reintroduced dairy (which was always the plan) it went back on as I could have cheese and proper milk and enjoyed food again.

I have done the fast 800 (twice - what does that tell you.....), 18:6 (stops me sleeping, no weight loss), low carb (I don't eat meat so by the end I wanted to cry at the sight of an egg).

I think the only real way forward is to be active, reduce portion size, up veg. Be kind. Treats weekly not daily. Treat yourself like you are precious.

I do really feel for you, it's miserable and so hard to think fuck it bring on the cake when you see no results.

I get really down on here when you read all the 'oh I'm 10 stone and I'm so obese' posts as I'd be happy at 11 stone if I was active with a good diet. Or when I lose no weight or put it in just by existing.
