Apologies for slightly old news but I was not aware that PPE was temporarily exempt from Vat, but it is now chargeable. I think is is still exempt in hospitals and care homes but if retail businesses and Joe Public want to buy a mask, 20% vat please.

Yes - the government is BU. Face masks are essential and should be VAT free.
No - treasury needs the money
