To wonder how some areas are so expensive?

I live in a big town that has one good postcode, where I rent. The rest is pretty much just poverty stricken and not nice at all unfortunately.

The average price for a 3 bed is £410k? It’s 40 mins outside of London by fast train. Ugly houses too that are extremely dated. Nothing I see listed has been updated in about 15 years. I think the area as a whole is a landlords paradise.

Awful place for the price. Is anyone else shocked at this sort of thing? It isn’t much cheaper than East London/Essex areas such as Upminster or Dagenham, which although not a pretty picturesque, at least have easy commutes into the City.

You can’t even walk to the station closest to me really. You need to drive or get an unreliable bus as it’s awkward with all the roads surrounding it unsuitable for pedestrians

We have a 20k deposit and it isn’t enough to live here Hmm Why on earth would someone with more cash even bother?

We don’t even have enough for a little 2 bed

I think the property price divide between London / Rest of UK is not what it was. We were looking at selling our London property and moving out, but places outside London were bigger, but not much cheaper.
