Surely, a healthy baby is all that matters. Why continue to try and try, risking your health and considerably upping your environmental footprint, for the sake of having a girl? It must also be tough to be a sibling of 15, unless the family live in a huge house with good family dynamic and equal opportunities. What's more, the 14 sons must feel that they were a disappointment because they weren't a girl.

AIBU to think this?

It should be illegal to have that many kids.

Qpobb · 08/11/2020 12:32

There's just no need. Just because we can, doesn't mean we should...

Some people yearn for a specific gender, some yearn for brown hair. I can't judge them just because I don't agree.

Meh. Not my business.

I know someone who had 8 to get a boy 🤷🏼‍♀️

Autumnblooms · 08/11/2020 14:29

14, I mean it does get to a point when it becomes stupid, surly!! More than 5 kids without getting the gender you want surly you would realise it’s not going to happen without help!

SilenceOfThePrams · 08/11/2020 14:30

They’ve been in the news before, with child 13 and child 14. And say they don’t mind whether the baby is a boy or a girl. They weren’t trying for a girl, they are just Catholics and have decided against birth control.

Someone my Mum knows did this but in reverse, she desperately wanted to ‘give her husband a son’ Hmm. She had four girls (all c-sections too so big risk to her health) before finally having a boy, she was then sterilised. She has admitted she would have continued until she got the boy or until her uterus packed in...

They are both well qualified. Different choices.

Thisisnotnormal69 · 08/11/2020 14:30

did they actually keep trying to get a girl specifically? didn't read that but guess if so they say that elsewhere?

Though agree 16 children is ridiculous for so many reasons..

I know a family with ten girls and one boy, the boy was the second youngest.
