Despite enjoying the videos ( not so keen on the Muzak ) I never mix up the potions or make the things out of coke bottles

run by a russian duo getting very rich and the so called tips have been proven fake, useless and sometimes dangerous by many other youtube channels, but they are very good at milking the algorithm so the channels never die

BrumBoo · 05/11/2020 20:01

Most of them are fake. Some are plain dangerous and should never be recreated! Some of the hair ones are hilarious, they do them all on wigs to avoid damaging their own hair Hmm.

God I'm naive then Shock

My best one was coking a hot dog in the sun using an empty plastic bottle.

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 05/11/2020 20:29

DH and I watch these when we've had a shit day at work and need a good giggle Grin

Marcelduchamp · 05/11/2020 20:43

They are utterly bonkers. Often they're solutions to problems that don't exist. I'm getting quite into tiktok videos which take the piss out of them!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 05/11/2020 20:47

I always have a good laugh at them.😁

Voice0fReason · 05/11/2020 21:06

They are making a living by conning people!
It's all fake, they deliberately fake it because it requires less effort so it's easier to churn out more videos.

CoRhona · 05/11/2020 21:14

They make me laugh.

Some of them must be 5 days' work not 5 minutes Grin

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 05/11/2020 21:16

My favourite ones are the ones where they prove that "life hacks" on YouTube videos don't work. Only half of the life hacks are theirs Grin

5 minute crafts (5MC) make make money because they are content farms.

They create content that is easy to view and believable to the casual viewer.
The way the money is made is lime this

5mc show you a short video, (say) on Facebook, and then you might watch anther related video, which may be 5mc, or someone else. You spend 25 extra minutes on FB above the planned 5 minutes of checking your feed.
The videos keep you on FB. In those 25 extra minutes, you'll be looking at adverts on FB, you're more likely to click on an ad.

Simlified: Advertisers pay FB per click, 5mc keeps you on the platform, so FB rewards 5mc for content (eg pay per 100k views)
5mc gets more money, so creates more videos, which show up FB more, which makes FB money, so they pay 5mc more money... They keep making more videos

Etc
Etc
Etc

5mc (a subsidiary of TheSoul Publishing) are actually 1 channel that TSP own. They own hundreds of video channels, all churning out content for services like FB, YouTube etc.

They're actually hijacking YouTube and the like, driving out actual content creators, pushing them done the rankings. Buy YT doesn't care, because they're making more and more money...

YT go to great length to hide the fact their platform's most popular videos are actually content farm videos.

00100001 · 05/11/2020 21:36

TheSoul Publishing is now the third largest media and content creator in the WORLD. only behind Disney and Warner Brothers. TSP only been around since 2004.
5MC is only 4 years old and has garnered 18.9 BILLION views in that time. Globally It currently gets 3 million views a DAY.

And that is 1 of 200+ channels TSP owns....
