It long but read to the end!
There are thousands of office workers who are at home and have been since mid March. It is incredibly isolating, lonely and depressing.
I am a manger and struggling to find the strength to motivate myself, let alone my team. It just isn’t the same at home and it does take some extreme will power and severe discipline to keep going.
Due to work pressure it’s not like you can just pop out anymore, and do the school run with some ease, mainly due to flagging mental health and people catching Covid, also productivity has wavered due to all of the above. So you find yourself having to do more. In my office, we are going through rounds of redundancies too, so many people are feeling burnt out, depressed and anxious.
Its bloody hard - I don’t see real people, other than those who now live inside my computer and I am going flipping crazy quite frankly.
I do think this is mainly why the south has gotten away with the virus, I live in the north and the student/industry towns are causing outbreaks at universities and factories.
So fellow office workers it’s bleak, we may not go back to normal any time soon. However I have found us a little Christmas bonus:
www.gov.uk/tax-relief-for-employees/working-at-home
Something to look forward to since we can’t escape the confines of our house for work or play for a good probably 8 months?
Post fun things below or rant away
