Can I darken my hair without dye?

I have natural brown hair, I've always been pretty ok with the colour and never dyed it but recently I feel it's a bit boring and doesn't have much character.

It's fairly thick, in good condition and easy enough to style (I know the pic has bad split ends I was just gauging the lockdown hair growth before my most recent hair cut!).
I'd love to try and go a bit darker / richer but was wondering if there's products I can use to darken my hair that don't involve dying it?

The pictures attached are the shades I love but maybe not quite as dark as the one from the back.
Could anyone advise if there is anything I could try before I go down the route of hair dye to give it a bit of a darker shade or is hair dye the only option?

I used VERY strong tea to tone mine for a while. It didn't go really dark, but it did give it different tone. And made them nice

I would try those pigmented shampoos esp for brunettes or Josh Wood does a toner for brown hair

I have read that coconut oil darkens hair. I think it does having used it overnight on DD.

I used to use henna before I got too many greys!
